If you’ve noticed, I’ve been posting a lot of motorcycles and not much else, you are right. It’s been the busiest season of my life and I’m excited to share the backstory.

At the beginning of the year @jennybrookes_ and I hatched a plan for me to work with her and @zeromotorcycles as a Freelance Creative Director. I pitched her a handful of ideas and she came back with “let’s do them all”.

It was a pinch myself moment because one of the concepts was for me race the Zero XE in the US Hard Enduro series and make films about it.

It was a big unknown. Would the bike do alright? Would I do alright? Would it make an interesting story? I didn’t know but I wanted to try. After all, what’s more fun than riding motos and making stories?

We entered 3 races, each with better results than the next. We developed the bike to work better for the harsh hard enduro race environments with the help of @ridesirris and Zero, I might have even become a better rider.

We also asked pro rider @danny_lewis_9 to come race at @tkoenduro and he said yes.

5 riders on Zero XE’s lined up this last weekend @tkoenduro and we came home with 2 podium finishes. Danny took third in the EMoto pro class and I took 3rd in the EMoto sportsman class. Zero was the only manufacturer to have 2 sponsored riders podium.
And this bike costs half as much as the premium E Moto competitors. It’s the little bike that can.

I’m over the moon. Long term projects are a huge bet and I’m both excited and relieved that this one turned out better than I hoped in every way.

I'm moving to Amsterdam (!)

I haven’t told everyone yet because even saying it out loud still feels a little unreal, and I don’t have answers to all the questions yet.

My job asked me to relocate the week before my dog Clyde passed. It took some time to process, but the loss and change I’ve experienced over the last few years suddenly felt like some kind of quiet preparation for a bigger shift.

Change is hard and good and the spice of life. This little fortune has been sitting in my windowsill for months and I’m trying to lean into it.

I’ve really grown to adore Santa Cruz. I’m going to miss the lifestyle here, my people, and being just a few minutes/hours away from the ones I love.

If you find yourself out that way, come visit me! Currently looking for a 2 bedroom apt so I can comfortably host my friends. Still here in the interim though, so if you’re at the Biltwell 100 race this weekend, lets hug. 🫶 taken in Santa Cruz, California by @jennybrookes_

Packing for Barcelona and realized I never shared photos from my last trip there. Is a year later too late?

I swear I worked on this trip, but I also saw 2 great sunsets, rode around to some of Barcelona’s most iconic spots on the Zero FXE, ate some very nice tapas, walked through the city with @adamkingman keeping me company on the phone, celebrated @sergimejias’ birthday, and saw one protest that completely took over downtown. I also remember stopping to visit one of my @zeromotorcycles dealers who didn’t speak a hint of English and my Duolingo streak wasn’t cutting it, so we had an endearing conversation only through Google Translate on his PC.

I won’t keep bringing this up forever but Clyde’s last few days were special and I want to log them here in my IG diary. Also haven’t found the energy to individually thank everyone who has been reaching out over the last week but I’m feeling the love and appreciate you all so much, thank you. ❤️

I was on the phone with @catiecook last week when I noticed Clyde struggling to stand and it wasn’t long before I realized he couldn’t walk. A long day at the e-vet revealed the dog equivalent of a torn ACL. I knew by the look in the vet’s eyes when she sat me down. For a dog of nearly 17, Clyde’s muscle loss was so severe that healing naturally wasn’t going to happen and a surgery would be more pain for him than it was worth.

She sent me home with pain meds (that he wouldn’t take because he’s too smart and could sniff them out of any food I tried to hide them in) and I spent the rest of the night curled up on the floor next to Clyde, emailing at-home euthanasia doctors. Mike was in South Korea at the time and we agreed that if we had any control over when we say goodbye to Clyde, we would wait until we could do it together.

I stayed home the rest of the week, carrying him to our yard or neighbors yards to get a little movement, hauled him around by the harness on his old backpacking pack, spent time sitting in the car with the A/C blasted listening to Janelle Monáe when it got too hot, and pedaled around to his favorite spots around Santa Cruz (thanks Charles).

For his last 24 hours, we picked up a little Picanha steak from Shoppers Corner and grilled half of it to perfection for his last dinner, the other half the next morning for his last breakfast. We used to walk to Verve for coffee every week so we swung by for a pup cup before a pedal and a burger & fry along west cliff. Driving back home with Clyde in my passenger seat for the last time was the hardest and I think it’s the slowest I’ve ever driven a vehicle in my entire life. Kara & Dave came over with freshly cooked bacon and I sobbed through Kara reading the sweetest poem she wrote for Clyde.

Today was Clyde’s last day. 💔

Unless I was traveling, we’ve walked together daily since I was 21. I want to remember him this way—running through the snow, climbing into my kayak, hiking through mountains and desert, picking me up and dropping me off at the airport, waiting in the truck for me to get back from dirt biking and just happy to be along for the ride. He has been my closest companion through the highest highs and lowest lows of my adult life.

I’m grateful we were able to pack so many experiences into his long life of nearly 17 years and grateful for the opportunity to choose when to say goodbye. Choosing might be the hardest part, but I know not everyone gets to choose. It was time.

Earlier a friend shared the words of A.A. Milne that go something like, how lucky I am to have known something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

8-13: a special visit from JJ + @genevieve_davis all the way from Hawaii—a lot of ocean time, roller coasters, good food, good conversation, and my first surf lesson 🥲

14-16: quick visit from @laurynbesasie + Pat on a road trip from Mikwaukee and Rufus the dog’s first dip in the Pacific 🌊

Boarding a flight to Tennessee for a weekend of rocky race chaos at @tkoenduro with these guys!

We’re throwing the new @zeromotorcycles trail bikes into the deep end—first hard enduro! The Zero XE was born for trails, not necessarily boulder-filled creek beds, but its hard to imagine a more extreme scenario to test both man and machine. Excited to see how it holds up and what we can learn for future improvements with our chief test rider @moto499 behind the bars. Trevor’s first TKO and first hard enduro race!

Our pal @mtbmx_dustin, test rider for @electriccyclerider, will be racing another XE and it’ll be great to walk away with both perspectives.

Come find us at the @trialstrainingcenter and swing by the Zero tent if you’re around! We’ll have a couple of the X Line bikes ready to rip on the demo course. If not, wish us luck and no broken bones.⚡⚡

June 2025 // my first time back to O’ahu in well over a decade for JJ & @genevieve_davis’ wedding. Hard to believe we packed so much good stuff into one week. I heard Genevieve’s loved ones describe her as a “bucking bronco” and a “thunderstorm rolling in on the plain”…I love that and I dare say they're perfect descriptors of her wild, wholehearted approach to life. If Genevieve recommends getting in the deep blue with sea creatures, do it!!! Swimming in open water with sharks may have been my peak, hard to imagine ever experiencing something that magical again. Grateful for her bringing together so many down for anything homies and sharing the aloha lifestyle with us. ❤️‍🔥 taken in Oahu, Hawaii by @jennybrookes_
