A quick getaway. Reporting from out east that the Atlantic is very cold… by @jennybrucenyc

What a special evening. 🤍

Thank you to everyone who came, to the @bedfordplayhouse, to the friends who brought friends, neighbors, family members who travelled long distance, and to the angel @thomobrienmusic who arrived with all the sound equipment!

And thank you to the audience. The love in the room was palpable. In a space that is often noisy with activity, everyone commented you could’ve heard a pin drop!

It was a true honor to share the stories, experiences, and truths behind my songs, and to welcome @jennybrucenyc @ghostenyc into the conversation. She brings such depth and richness through her experiences as an artist, woman, and mother as well.

Our voices and songwriting styles are very different, each bringing its own texture and perspective, yet there is a beautiful thread of connection between us - perhaps roted in our shared Barnard College history, or the many years we’ve spent together in songwriting circles.

Something meaningful happened in that room. For all involved.

I love creating spaces where music, story, and authentic conversation invite people into deeper connection with themselves and one another. There is something profoundly transformative about what becomes possible when we gather in this way.

I have a feeling this is only the first chapter of Inside the Song. ✨

I’ve been wanting to create a songwriter night that feels more immersive, connected, and real than the typical “one song and pass the mic” format… and it’s finally happening.

On Friday June 5, I’ll be hosting Inside the Song at Bedford Playhouse with the incredible Jenny Bruce.

The evening will blend live music, storytelling, and honest conversation — giving each other a space to stay inside the creative flow of our songs while bringing the audience deeper into the stories and experiences behind them.

Really excited about this one ❤️

What were you like in the 90s? Neither of my sons asked. In fact, nobody but the robot 🤖 algorithm called. But as this 🔥 🐴 looks sixty down the muzzle, I simply couldn’t resist. Somehow these old photos all live online once again thanks to the robots 🤖 trolling old websites. I’m particularly fond of the photo of me and my dad in 1991 at my Barnard graduation. And the photo of me and the Urbanmuse goddesses. I met @rachael_sage and @therealamyfairchild at the NYC Lilith Fair Talent Search where they won 1st and second place and I came in third. 🎶🏆 Does it get more 90s than Lilith Fair? ✨ One decade, so many dang hairstyles. 🫠 I always thought this song of mine was so quintessentially 90s. Room in My Heart. For you. Every woman who ever looked in the mirror and saw anything less than magic. You were and you always will be beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful rainy fall day. 🍁 🌊 Shapes and muted colors through the window. There is truly beauty everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Even in the sadness and heartbreak. 💔 Even in the loss. This human experience is exquisite. A gift. 🎁I am reminded every time I #lookup 🖤🖤🖤

The video for Keep on Dancing is out now! It’s going to make you smile. I promise. Even if you don’t want to. Link is in the bio. Go! 🪩🪩🪩

Without music… without dancing… I don’t know how I would get through life. I mean that. Literally. Dancing provides a physical outlet for all the emotions. Especially those difficult ones we hold on to… tightly. For fear of falling apart. 🪩💃🏾🕺🏽👯🩰

Keep on dancing
Even if you think you can′t go on
Oh, like you′ve got nothing to lose
And you know it’s gonna be ok 🖤

Remember the days when artists recorded albums and every track took you on a musical journey?✨❤️

If that appeals to you, check out @meganburtt 💿 🎶 And tell a friend. 🤗

This album reminds me why I love “slow” music. Listening to a whole album, not just a flashy single (not that these songs aren’t hooky as hell). Lyrics, vocals, production (she did it all!), meant to be savored. ❤️ ✨✨✨
