It took me a while to pick just 20 pictures of Tuscany. We were so lucky because Laura shared her family with us and we were able to experience things we wouldn't have as regular tourists. Sorry if I've been unreachable, I was in my ancestral homeland while this song absolutely blasts at high volume from the depths of my soul. I know she was talking about the Amalfi coast, but this place is everything. Bad tattoos on leather tanned skin, Jesus Christ on a plastic sign, Pompeii in the distance etc etc. I'll be nostalgic for this in record time.

Napoli felt so familiar. I now see where the New York Italians inherited their gruff demeanor. Now I know why my uncle said his father's sisters were witches (this is where stregheria was born). The tiny alleyways strewn with clotheslines and religious icons and vendors barking you into a tiny hole in the wall for the best food you'll eat pretty much ever. It's like the Feast of San Gennaro on crack down 100 different streets all day every day. Everywhere, beautiful women with noses that look like mine, yelling and laughing with their friends not hiding their joy or caring about being demure. Cars and motor bikes flying toward the crosswalk at top speed til you think they'll hit you for sure, but they never do (crossing the street is a skill).
