How could I not attend and support @wearegroundswellorg, when they’re honoring the wonderful Ken Inouye and family? His children and grandchildren are continuing the still much needed work for social justice. An amazing community leader, a former @jacl_national president, as well as local chapter SELANCO president and that’s just some of the groups he’s led. Met Ken back in 2001, when organizing a hate crimes and incidents prevention community training due to Kenneth Chiu fatal attack and then also sadly due to post-9/11 hate crimes occurring that year and on. Got to work with him more as I got involved with @ocapica97, as Ken is one of the OCAPICA founders with Alan Woo (also in the photo). Ken is always so encouraging to the next generation, a true bridge builder on so many levels. He often introduces me to others as Jennifer, who is involved with the Taiwanese American community. Grateful to know this suspender wearing superhero that used to sunlight as a briefcase carrying CPA. He has since retired from the day job but still very much active on creating a better and more just community. He’s more than Kenough. taken in The Muckenthaler Cultural Center by @jenofkuo

Annual Ride of Lights courtesy of @saactivestreets. First time riding in the rain with both thunder and lighting. Yummy chicken and vegan tamales with some hot chocolate afterwards sporting our fabulous rainy styled hair . Somewhere in DTSA is the now lost green antlers and Costa Mesa bike light. by @jenofkuo

Got my monthly hike in. Full Moon hike courtesy of @irnlandmarks. First time ever on this trail/hike. Got to also see the moon, Jupiter and it’s moons, and Saturn via a telescope. Also saw an owl and a shooting star. Wish we could take bikes on this road since it’s paved. Will have to do this trail next time during the day. taken in Hicks Haul Road by @jenofkuo

Thanks @hikerkind and @seedpeoplesmkt for the hike. No idea how plentiful tarantulas are in OC. Saw a total of 3 on the hike and they kept getting bigger. And learned that this time of the year is mating season so that’s why they’re out and about. taken in Boomer Canyon Trail Head by @jenofkuo

Thanks @hikerkind for today’s hike. My first hike in the rain on the continental US (as I just remembered my first hike in the rain was in Kauaʻi). Such a beautiful drive up with the fog, though drive back down with the rain was quite an adventure. taken in Switzer Falls Trail by @jenofkuo

Always wanted to see the bioluminescence and finally got a chance too. With the bonus of common dolphins and fin fishes. Thank you @newportwhales and Jennie @doezieland for sharing this video with me. Time for me to upgrade to a new smartphone with a better camera. by @jenofkuo

My first attempt with squash blossoms. Love Cucina Enoteca’s version. I bought some two weeks ago but those suckers wilted and went bad quickly that I had to toss them so just bought another batch this weekend. And the whole process was more time consuming that I had anticipated. No joke about washing them, as I found this dead bee and other bugs in there. The filling was good (ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella with basil and chives) but not sure the air fryer process is as good if I had just fried them on the stove. taken in Irvine Farmers Market At Mariners Church by @jenofkuo
