Every time my son comes home from college, something in the house has changed. This time, it was the bathroom.

When the house gives us lemons, we make lemonade.

Everything about this fireplace was originally off center. Adding a mantle that’s the same size as the hearth made it so much better. by @jenthornhilldesign

Changing out a light fixture is almost as simple as changing the art on your wall.

As your design style evolves, don’t feel stuck with fixtures that no longer fit your aesthetic.

Anyone who can read directions can change a chandelier. Just remember to turn off power at the breaker first. ⚡️

Our utility hall had an empty wall that felt like wasted space. Our safe was tucked away in a closet, making it really hard to access. Our kitchen freezer was always too full. The counter over our dogs’ crates was constantly cluttered with receipts and paperwork. The cat litter box was visible *gasp*.

As the main way we enter our home, it felt chaotic and, frankly, gross.

Solution: We moved the safe out of the closet. We purchased a standup freezer, applied black appliance vinyl and gold spray paint on the freezer, so it matches the safe. And we built a desk and shelves to pull it all together. The litter box is now hidden behind those pretty curtains. The counter is, thus far, clutter free, and ready for laundry or crafts or whatever else we need in the moment.

I’ve yet to become someone who transfers my laundry products into prettier containers. Maybe one day.

But today, coming home through this utility hall feels so much better.

Early morning around the house with my coffee cup.

Saw this mug at our local farmers market and fell in love with the details 😍

Crafted by MSU art grads, @ameleas_clayallday and @jaylei.mudandink_ (I did a little social media searching to find them)

I’ve always felt something was missing under this painting, and when I saw the scalloped edge basket, I knew exactly where it belonged.

Views around our bedroom this evening. I stand firmly on making our bed every morning, so we can come home to a peaceful room at night. #homedecor #home #homedesign #bedroom #bedroomdesign #bedroominterior by @jenthornhilldesign

I’ll always have a lamp in my kitchen, with a nightlight bulb. You can trust me.
