take a look around yourself, look at all the people in your life right now, all your favorite people, your favorite person in the world. this person will be in perfect health and you chat with them daily. now take that person and make them disappear, without warning, as God calls them to heaven. i hate to say that i was definitely the “won’t ever happen to me” person. my sweet aunt Blue was supposed to grow old with me. i was making my way up to Alaska so that she no longer had to work. i didn’t make it fast enough. she was working, saving her money. she and her co-worker passed away in a very unfortunate accident. it wasn’t supposed to be like this. my world has been changed forever. #grief #loss #whathappensafterwedie by @jenvatter

today i laid in a hammock under one of the walnut trees in the yard, and a magical thing happened. you see, there are two squirrels that live in the walnut trees. or maybe they live nearby and come to spend their days in the walnut trees. the squirrels came skittering and flittering across the branches, perched above me, looked down at me for a few minutes, then skittered and flittered to a new location where i couldn’t see them. but they proceeded to much on walnuts and down came the reject pieces of the outer shell of the walnuts, landing around me and sometimes on me 🤣 i did not mind. i love squirrels. by @jenvatter

My aunt Blue had recently connected with her family on her biological dad’s side, finding them through 23andme. She was incredibly proud that she was able to finally have her true last name as it should have been, Deehl. I want everyone to know this to truly honor her wishes. In July she had the most wonderful visit with her cousin David and her sister Gina that she met for the first time. by @jenvatter

We used to go off roading in her yellow jeep. And let me eat fruit loops. And bought me my first bike. She definitely was the “cool” aunt. by @jenvatter

I was rooting around my “keepsakes” storage bin when I spotted this. Andrea and I used to burn cds all the time and share them with each other, starting … early 2000s maybe? I’ve lost most of them with all my moves but kept this one! by @jenvatter
