(4of6) Do you think the training exerted a deep influence on your creative activities?
I think the foundational fine art and art history classes in undergrad paired with a year of post grad classes gave me a taste of the technical skill needed to be an artist but it was the art therapy counseling program that gave me deep insight into why I create. It helped me to develop my emotional language expressed through art. It helped me illuminate why I was creating what I was creating with a greater understanding of themes and recurring imagery unique to my work. I think I am a weird mix of both a trained and untrained artist with art therapy being the lens I work from; meaning that art making does not have to be done in a certain way for it to be called art. For me, anyone who has the intention to create art is an artist. I try to always remain open to following the creative process wherever it leads, without judgement and continuing to trust the process as it unfolds. #contemporaryart #cutandpaste #papercollage#analogcollage #collageartwork #femaleartist #collagecollective #handmadecollage #collagist #artcollecting #art #artist #artmuseum #arizonacollagecollective #collagesanctuaries #pariscollagecollective #collagetherapy #internationalcollageguild #arttherapistart #thecollageclub #edinburghcollagecollective #scandinaviancollagemuseum #kolajmagazine #stlcollagecollective #illustrationartists #arttherapist #kanyeartcollection by @jenx_art

Sometimes @stlcollagecollective meet ups the founders get to make art alongside our collage friends and yesterday @stlouispubliclibrary was an amazing opportunity to connect, collaborate and collage together thanks to all the set up the library did to host us. It has been 6 months since you left this earth, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss you. I miss our daily talks — whether it was on my drive to work, sitting at the kitchen table drinking tea, shopping together, baking, or watching old movies. I wish I could hear your laugh again and feel one more of your hugs.

I’ve taken up your love of watching the birds, and every once in a while, a bluebird appears and I like to think it’s you stopping by to say hello.

Happy heavenly 77th birthday. You are loved, missed, and thought of every single day. by @jenx_art
