Been a while coming and pushed on by daughter and her boyfriend to get out and paint we finally managed it yesterday. Aside from the teenage tagging and a few dubs and the odd piece back then with nothing really ‘stand out’, this was my first piece back. Had done a few outlines and sketches for this as ideas but didn’t want to commit to too much detail.

Learnt a lot yesterday in terms of:
▪️Wall coverage (the need to undercoat),
▪️Colours that go down well on the wall and the one colour that didn’t.
▪️Caps do make a difference and while stock caps were manageable, as soon as I changed to the banana skinny the difference was very noticeable.
▪️A full day painting is friggin intense (especially first time back after a massive gap at this scale - in the Graff Meca that is Sheff!).

Got the grit to pick up the physical as well as mental stamina so can’t wait for next one - so many ideas.

Shout out to Rome (I know you have no IG) and @chums_signco - sound lads who were there and who I picked up from on the need to do a decent undercoat! 👊🏻
They did some sick work yesterday and BIG shout out for the @lezaxer @dilk1 @heksaw_jim_duggan production - got to see it for first time in the flesh yesterday - big inspiration. 👊🏻

Second water Pokemon and my favourite from those base set booster packs we would have bought for our son back in 1999. This time it’s the gen 1 powerhouse pure water Pokémon Blastoise. I’d put up a couple of previous posts with the digital rendering of Blastoise that I’ll likely be using at an upcoming local paint jam but wanted to get this one up as I’m also looking to reorder my grid so this sits across a full line as a triptych. Still not resolved the uploading from iPhone debacle and will likely result in an app reload which means any drafts on there will likely be lost…. To counter this, I’ve moved to iPad which has sparked a bit more creativity in the reel creation this morning. Edits app recommended a template which I tried to use but it was a bit clunky so took the concept and created my own (I will try to find the original user and tag as it was their idea after all that triggered this post). #sheffieldgraffiti #graffitiart #southyorkshire #graffstyles #spraycanart 🙌🏻

Continuing the Belfast reels, moving from Smithfield and Union/Library Quarter (from the Sunflower pub), skirting into the Cathedral Quarter, two great urban street and skatewear shops visited: NEVER NEVER (@nevernevernow) on the corner of North Street and Gresham Street and Sole.Lo (@solelostore_temp) 3 minute walk away on Lower Garfield Street. Definitely recommend both👊🏻. Moving up through Writers Square by the Cathedral of St Anne with intention of seeing the Legal Wall on Little Patrick Street, we diverted down to Custom House Square when we heard the @wunderhorse_ sound check and saw the queue for the gig had just started to build. We decided to head back to our hotel, change for the gig, grab something to eat and head back to join the queue.
Hotel happens to have one of the largest if not the largest murals across both Northern Ireland and the Republic. By @achesdub sitting 32m high and 14.5m wide on the East gable side of the Holiday Inn Belfast City Centre (40 Hope Street). Commissioned by the @linenquarter 🙌🏻
Food purchased from @bapsbelfast 52 Upper Arthur Street on way back to gig (definitely recommend).

Catching up after Leeds Festival (no stable internet for duration) and our (@_maisie31_ and me) recent Belfast trip to see Wunderhorse, where I’d only managed to post one reel previously as flew back late from Belfast and then straight to Leeds early following morning. Had dropped into Smithfield Market to see @outlinesbelfast graff supplies (upcoming reel), chatted to Gary at @mccansbelfast Camping & Hiking (Army Surplus) who’s the third generation owner, and browsed in @voodoosouprecords (great selections of hip hop) where I almost picked up Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears album. Would have chatted to owner but he was navigating a ‘collection buy’ when we were in. Then headed slightly north a ‘couple of blocks’ and around the @sunflowerpub we found some amazing graff / street art proving unity between the two is ‘parful’. The Sunflower is on the corner of Union Street and Kent Street which is surrounded by some amazing works. Not had time to find out and list artist references yet. Any tags / ID’s appreciated. Loads more than this reel suggests and all in the space of a couple o’hundred yards.
