Other Than The Ear (2022) (Jeph Vanger) is a sound sculpture and artistic experiment consisting of four car bass loudspeakers, toy springs and contact microphones. The loudspeakers reproduce frequencies below the perceptual threshold of human hearing (infrasound recordings from Brooklyn Bridge in New York City), causing vibrations resulting in movements and oscillations and corresponding sound translations. Elastic objects that store mechanical energy are in a play of variability and rigidity, creating rhythm. Whatever is detected within the perceptual limits of the inaudible is heard through the vibrating body of the objects.

Núx brúx deals with night as a space of misunderstanding, potentiality, and revolt. It proposes seeing night as the beginning of a new day, rather than the end of the day that preceded it. It seeks to pay respect to nocturnal interspecies alliances and the rebellious economies of the night.

The Waves Crashing VIMA Art Fair 2026

Jeph Vanger presented ‘Do Signals Dream of Land?’ (2026), an 8-channel sound installation composed from foghorn recordings.

Arranged as a shifting field of distant calls, the work created a maritime acoustic environment where sound had no fixed origin or destination — emerging, dissolving, and returning across the exhibition space.

Drawing from the history of foghorns as instruments of orientation, warning, and isolation, Vanger treats each signal as a fragile attempt to establish contact across obscured space. Overlapping tones form a disoriented cartography of presence and absence, where meaning is delayed, fragmented, and continually reconfigured.

Here, the sea becomes both a geography and a temporal condition — a space for listening to what has passed, what is arriving, and what might still be reimagined.

Echoing this summer’s journey Karstic Dreams by Angelo Plessas @angeloplessas and Lydia Delikoura, @lydiadelikoura curated by Steffi Stouri @steffi.stouri in the framework of “All of Greece, One Culture”, we revisit ATOPOS cvc adventures beyond Attica. @allofgreeceoneculture

In 2024, ATOPOS cvc presented OTHERLANDS a site specific exhibition at the archaeological space of Heraion, Perachora, in the framework of “All of Greece one Culture”. OTHERLANDS serve as a space of critical encounter with the Other; sculptures by Petros Moris and sonic fiction by Jeph Vanger and Savina Giannatou intertwine, in a resonance of everything that exists and has existed in the land, human and non-human bodies, archaeological remains and geological materials.

Almost a month and a 1/2 ago I contributed musically to the Greek Tragedy “The Persians” / ΠΕΡΣΕΣ directed by Christos Theodorides and choreographed by Xenia Themeli, premiered in Epidaurus.
