British born @jerrygoodman rode his wife’s bike into town today to talk with us about his passion: riding up Mt Beacon. He rode a lot as a kid, sometimes 70miles, to get to a favorite trail in Surrey with friends. When he moved to Beacon, by way of Brooklyn, in 2011, he didn’t think he could make it up the mountain. But every time he tried he went a little farther, and modified his bike a bit. By using Strava he turned it into a race against himself, and now? He’s made the trip more than 1100 times—summer and winter!
Stats: fastest ascent was 17:19, his fastest descent was 3:32.
He rides on tubeless tires inflated to less than 20psi.
The bike in these photos needs to be rebuilt so he treated himself to a ‘real’ mountain bike, with suspension etc.
Favorite trails: Fahnestock and Stewart Forest
Where you’ll find him when he’s not on his bike: working @hudsonvalleybrewery by @jerrygoodman
