POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
My name is Jeffrey Roe and I'm the Founder & Principal Strategist at @fiestalegre.tv, an independent firm specializing in community management strategy, social media engagement, experience design, and podcast growth for brands and creators. I’m also the host of @beatsrhymesycomunidad, a podcast exploring the intersection of community management and culture. In addition to my consultancy and podcast, I help build community around pioneering shows like @therapdadsshow, @swayinthemorning, and @ctrlaltdstroy.

With 15 years of experience supporting industry leaders like @siriusxm, @meta, @bestbuy, @redtabletalk, @hrblock, @bayerus, and more, Fiestalegre (a mashup of the Spanish words for ‘Happy Party’) blends strategy with soul, honoring culture as a cornerstone of community. Fiestalegre's mission is to help brands and creators build meaningful, measurable, and culturally rooted relationships with the communities they serve. Where many consultants focus on platforms, we focus on people.

That approach has a source. I'm a Certified Hip-Hop Cultural Specialist, trained under @teacha_krsone and @officialtempleofhiphop, and a Donor Member of @puertorocksteady supporting ELEMENTOS, an initiative preserving Latino contributions to the culture. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Community Consultants Collective, the leading global community and knowledge hub for community consultants who help businesses grow successful online communities.

I'm an Irish Nuyorican, born in Manhattan and raised in Jersey City. I also spent a few years living in Austin, TX and Tampa Bay, FL where I hosted events for community professionals in both areas.

I take a heart-centered approach to this work. Community is my legacy, and culture is not decoration. It’s the blueprint.

If your work depends on people showing up, participating, and staying, I want to hear what you're building. taken in Jersey City, New Jersey by @jerseycityjeff

As we continue to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of @djtonytouch’s 50 MCs Mixtape, we also celebrate the life of one of the biggest influences on NYC nightlife, the late great @mrvoodooray, who transitioned nine years ago this past Saturday. 🙏🏽🕊️✨

By 2008, the economy was crashing.

Tony had parted ways with his show on @power1051, and he wanted something radio couldn’t give him, organic connection.

So he started @funkboxnyc, a Sunday night House music experience that brought together yet another part of the culture that was lacking in unity.

During that same summer of ’96 that the 50 MCs Mixtape dropped, @djtonytouch was building another bridge across the diaspora.

While New York knew him for Hip Hop, Tony had been traveling to San Juan for years, spinning in clubs where a new sound was rising out of Spanish Reggae.

In 1996, Tony released Guatauba, pairing Puerto Rican artists from the island with Hip Hop artists from the States. That June, his friend @tmartinez87, Co-Founder of Stress Magazine and Managing Partner at @barriobx, had a float in the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

For a lot of New Yorkers, it became the first time they’d heard Reggaeton.

A behind the scenes look into the making of @djtonytouch’s 50 MCs Mixtape featuring the legendary @thehappyhourwhb who was the first MC to kickoff this groundbreaking series.

Fun fact: @thehappyhourwhb was signed to Boogie Down Productions and developed as an artist under the tutelage of @teacha_krsone who also shares about the first time he met @djtonytouch in this clip.

We’re closing out Hispanic Heritage Month with a bang! 💥

In honor of the 30th Anniversary of @djtonytouch’s 50 MCs Mixtape, @beatsrhymesycomunidad proudly presents:

50 MCs, One Diaspora: A Tony Touch Mini-Doc

Before he became the Piece Maker, Joseph Anthony Hernandez was a B-Boy from Brooklyn, raised in a Puerto Rican household that came from music. In 1985, he moved from the floor to the turntables and became DJ Tony Touch. What followed was over 40 years of building bridges.

This mini-doc traces three of them. The 50 MCs, the 1996 mixtape series that put @teacha_krsone, @officialbigdaddykane, @kgrfilms, @bigl_139, @yasiinbey and dozens more on one tape. Reggaeton’s journey from San Juan to New York, from Guatauba to a float in the 1996 Puerto Rican Day Parade alongside @tmartinez87 of Stress Magazine and @barriobx. And @funkboxnyc, the Sunday night House music experience Toca built when he wanted something radio couldn’t give him, organic connection.

Through it all, one message holds true. Hip Hop was built by Black and Brown hands together, and its future depends on unity.

Link in bio for the full doc. Enjoy! 🎬🍿🫡

Perfidia was written in Mexico in 1939 by Alberto Domínguez. One man, one betrayal, one song.

It didn’t stay his. It got picked up and carried and reshaped until it belonged to everyone who sang it, Graciela among them.

That’s what a standard really is. Not a song somebody declared important. A song a community decided to keep.

Here’s @the.miss.yaya singing it as Graciela in @threekingsqueens, giving a performance that transported us back the Palladium, the room where Black, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Italian and Jewish New Yorkers shared a floor because the music gave them a reason to.

Episode 12 of @beatsrhymesycomunidad has the whole story, from Havana in the thirties to a ballroom on Broadway. Link in bio for more.
