Gila Kas’la, lax̱a̱mła t̕sakwa̱la.As I head back to the city, I carry this moment with me in a deep way.Coming home to stand beside my brother as he stepped into his role as Chief meant everything. His life has been built on sacrifice, humility, and service to our people. Leadership like that isn’t given — it’s lived and proven over a lifetime. Sisaxolas. I’m here for whatever you need, now and forever. That morning before the potlatch I spent time in meditation, grounding myself for the day. When the beat began and I stepped onto the floor to dance, it felt like time folded together — past, present, and future all in the same breath. The dance reminds us who we are, where we come from, and the responsibility we carry to honour those who walked before us and those who will come after. I truly believe my ancestors were dancing with me. I’m especially proud of my sister May. Her strength, heart, and the way she carries our family and our culture is something I admire deeply. Watching her stand in that moment reminded me how strong our roots truly are.And proud of my brother Gideon as he steps into leadership with humility and heart. And I’m proud of every other family member who stepped up, it was beautiful to witness.
