We had a blast seeing @imomsohard last night. We got 30+ school moms out on a weeknight, loaded 15 of us into our “church camp” van, and headed to the show.
Big shoutout to Chad! When I mentioned that some of us might carpool, he jumped in with, “Just rent a big van and I’ll drive.” And he did. 🎉🚌
I’m bummed we didn’t get pictures with everyone before they had to run out after the show to get to bed and handle business this morning. Honestly, getting that many moms out on a weeknight was a feat in itself- but these mamas show up! I’m ever so grateful for all of the moms who made time for a good time in the middle of a crazy busy week.

Such a “my worlds colliding” moment; my girls here in LA interviewing the moms of hometown celebs Tanner and Connor from Upstate South Carolina! 💛 This is such a meaningful conversation for anyone raising, loving, teaching, or working with children on the spectrum. Definitely give it a listen!

We were so young when we became parents, still figuring out life ourselves, but one of the greatest privileges has been watching you love our boys. What makes it even more special is that you weren’t given the best example of fatherhood, yet you chose to become the dad you deserved to have. All along you’ve shown up with patience, sacrifice, guidance, and endless love, and our boys are better because of it. You balance my insanity (moodswings) out perfectly. 😆

On the 1 year anniversary of packing up (20%, because downsize) of our lives, leaving Texas behind, and taking a leap of faith on a new adventure. Today, as Miles culminates from 8th grade, it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on just how fortunate we’ve been.
I couldn’t have dreamed of a better middle school experience than the one we found at Portola.
Miles has grown so much this year and has made incredible friends who helped turn a new city into home. He quickly found friends to adventure to Six Flags with, and spend hours with writing and filming sketches for his Sketch/improv class. Watching him find his place, and create lasting memories has been one of the greatest gifts of this move.
And then there’s FOP- where I may have aggressively inserted myself from the start. My first volunteering opportunity came before the first day of school and I was so impressed with the lack of mean mom energy. What began as volunteering quickly became friendships. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some truly incredible moms who have become people I now proudly call friends. The hours spent planning events, solving problems, laughing together, and supporting our kids have been some of my favorite memories from this year.
As bittersweet as it is to see Miles move on to High School, I’m grateful that our Portola story isn’t over. We get to start all over again with Finn next year, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Last overnight field trip of elementary school… everything feels like a last with our caboose.🥹
This morning felt like a full-on relay race: dropping Finn off to get checked in, middle school drop-off, then racing back just in time to get Finn on the bus. Finn was more nervous about the bus ride (car sick trauma) than actual camp but having friends that I knew I could hand Finn off to, knowing they would help settle those nervous butterflies and make him feel safe and excited. 👌🏻
AND also without being asked, grabbing a few photos of us before he got on the bus. 💯. @therealsmedley so grateful for you- and for the way your family shows up and Brit “gets” Finn. ❤️ by @jespark85
