LUXOR - has a piece of my heart. So much history and so incredible to see so much of it on horseback. Was constantly picking my jaw up off the floor (and then spitting out copious amounts of dust)

Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple, Karnak Temple, Luxor Museum and Temple, Habu Temple, sunset and sunrise rides through small towns and active dig sites with incredible people and incredible horses (especially Guevara) 🫶🏼🌙 taken in Luxor, Egypt by @jess.a.ross

CAIRO // Getting to visit The Grand Egyptian museum (which only opened to the public on my birthday, 11/4/25, housing over 100,000 artifacts including the complete collection found in King Tutankhamun‘s tomb) in the morning and the Pyramids of Giza in the afternoon was a truly incredible first day in Egypt.

This is the post I never wanted to make but knew would be coming much sooner than I could ever prepare for despite months of anticipatory grief. He deserved more time but his heart was literally just too big and now there’s an Ollie shaped hole in mine.

He loved his bones and playing fetch, going to the park and the beach, boat rides and car rides - but more than anything, he just loved being wherever I was.

He was my shadow, my roommate, my co pilot, my travel buddy, my best friend. My soul dog. He visited 23 states, rode on planes, trains, ferries and automobiles, was Chief Happiness Officer at 3 different companies, and made friends everywhere he went. He experienced more in his short life than many humans ever do - and still, it wasn’t enough.

Dogs pour every ounce of themselves into loving us unconditionally, asking for nothing more than our company in return. And even when they’re gone, that love doesn’t leave. It settles into the quiet places of our lives and stays.

Every time I open my door, in every corner of my apartment, I still expect to see him there but he’s gone. I will miss my Ollie forever but man was I lucky to be able to call him mine. He was such a good boy. Until we meet again…💔🌈🐶 by @jess.a.ross

Three days (and approximately 15 hours in the saddle/30 miles) trekking the western coast of Morocco.

Truly no better way to explore a new country than on horseback. (Special shout outs to my trusty stallion, Zorro, Tag the dog who kept up the entire time, and the @cheval__essaouira team for an incredible trip)
