I was just 31 and she was barely 3 months old when our soldier was taken and I was given the folded flag from his casket, on behalf of a grateful nation. I do my best to keep her daddy’s spirit alive; telling stories about him, sharing memories and photos, and of course we visit his resting place as often as we can. The last five years without my husband have been anything but easy, but we won’t give up. We can’t give up. Our soldier is counting on us to keep going. She thinks that I look after her, but truthfully, she looks after me. My little piece of my husband on earth, my Valentine baby. I’ll never give up on us. ❤️💪🏻🇺🇸

My husband absolutely loved his Kansas City Chiefs. I’ve never known a bigger fan than him. Winning or losing, he never stopped watching them, supporting them, riding the highs and the lows with them. He never witnessed them play at a single Super Bowl. My beautiful husband was killed on May 15, 2019 while serving our country, and later that year the Chiefs went on to win the AFC Championship, putting them in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969, which they won.

He didn’t get to see it at a Super Bowl party in our home, with me and our friends, screaming and crying and jumping around. But I know he saw it, from his new home in Heaven.

I’ll never stop missing you, loving you, or honoring you, handsome husband of mine. Winning or losing, we root on your favorite team. And we never stop cheering for you either, our hero.

Sometimes life happens. The kids need this and that. Maybe you’re doing it on your own. Maybe you’re struggling with things that are heavy and take your attention. The laundry piles up. The floors accumulate dog hair. The dressers and tables become catch-alls. And that’s ok. It happens to the best of us. Eventually, you’ll find the motivation and the spark to reset when your body and mind are ready.

I recently finished graduate school and earned a master’s degree. My two years of grad school were some of the busiest, most stressful times of my life! I had practicum, class, and papers. I am a single mom of three too. I coached their cheer squads and soccer teams. I take them to their practices and games, recitals and dances. And then of course there is homework, dinner, baths, and nightly stories. And then the big thing that kills my motivation at times - widowhood and grief. Sometimes that and all the rest need my attention more than the dust bunnies.

After I graduated, I took my kids on a much needed vacation. A week of sunshine and fun with my babies rejuvenated me nicely! I am deep cleaning my house one room at a time for a very necessary full house reset. My bedroom, which is supposed to be my sanctuary, had become a total mess of dog hair, dusty tables, and random items that didn’t belong. Nothing a few hours with a podcast couldn’t fix. 🫣😅
