”Create your own style. Let it be unique for yourself, yet identifiable to others”

~ ANNA WINTOUR ~

I don’t have one style. I dress according to how I feel that day. I guess that makes it my own style.@

From ”fit_over” to ”Jess_thisisme”

I have written, deleted, re-written the caption for this post a few times cause I want it right.
I don’t want it to come off as a ”buhu-look at me-pity-party” kind of post.
But this is me. Now. Almost 2 years after I got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
I’m not ”fit_over” anymore. I’m Jess on a new journey.

I’ve lost a lot of muscles and gained some weight.
But atm I’m just happy to not be in a severe flare-up. It’s mild, but it’s there.

This is a appreciation post for my body.
I’m amazed by how strong one’s body really is.
It’s carried me through the 2 worst years of my life.
These past two years have been heaven and hell, messy in so many ways.
Parts of who I was is gone. Other parts have enhanced.
I don’t chase a ”perfect life” anymore.
I want a peaceful life.
In some ways I grief the version of me I was before I got sick. But mostly I know that my body pulled the breaks for a reason and I’m learning to live with this new version of myself.
Living with an autoimmune disease is unpredictable.
I’ve basically been in a flare-up for two years.
It’s exhausting and yet somehow my body finds a way to keep going.
Some days really slow, with lots of rest and other days, almost like before I got sick.
Living with an illness doesn’t always show on the outside. Most days you put on a smile and no one can tell.
For those of you who do; I see you ❤️

• Mostly you see posts on social media about people’s wins.
• You rarely see the losses.
• Real isn´t really accepted on social media anymore.
• Everything you see on social media is a highlight reel and we all have real world problems behind the screens.

• If you eat well, people ask if you´re on a diet. You´re not. You´re choosing to prioritize your health and fuel your body.
• If you lift weights regularly people assume you want to look like a bodybuilder. The majority don´t.

• We want to look in the mirror and not feel like we´ve aged 10 years overnight. We want to feel like ourselves.
• Real fitness is about what your body can do. It´s not about being shredded.
• It´s about how you feel at the end of the day.

• Train for your life. For you. Not to impress strangers online.
🤍 But maybe, hopefully to be an inspiration for someone. by @jess__thisisme

Living with Ulcerative Colitis (UC), an autoimmune disease, can come with unexpected symptoms that your doctor might not always mention.

For me, that includes (among a lot of other symptoms) a chronic eye infection 👁️

My eyes often feels like they’re literally on fire, and it’s something I never expected to deal with alongside UC.

If you have UC, have you experienced symptoms outside of your gut too? ❤️ by @jess__thisisme

You can be both. 🤍

•You can smile and still be struggling.
•You can look healthy and still be sick.
•You can be strong and still need rest.

That’s the reality of living with an autoimmune disease. Both can be true. ✨

• Women often get shamed for posting a photo like this.
”You just want attention”….

• Far from it!

• Every version of a woman is worthy.
• Every stage, every change, every chapter — beautiful.

• We don’t exist to fit expectations, shrink ourselves, or explain our confidence.
• We are allowed to take up space, to be seen, to express, to share — without being labeled or shamed.

• Posting a photo isn’t “seeking attention.”
• It’s owning your presence.

🤍 So here’s your reminder:
You don’t need permission to celebrate yourself! 🤍

🎄 Rocky Road
C h r i s t m a s C a n d y

Is it a healthy recipe? Absolutely not!
It’s Christmas once a year, you might as well enjoy some sugar.
Do I eat it? No, and that’s because I don’t eat sugar because of my Ulcerative Coliti.
My kids love Rocky Road though!

Ingredients;
🍫 600 gram of 70% good quality chocolate
🍬 2 bags of chocolate covered caramel of your choice (Dumle för oss svenskar)
🍥 2 handfuls of minimarshmallows (jag hittade inte det så jag tog Skumtomtar)
🥜 3 dl salted peanuts
🥜 1 dl shelled pistachios

1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over boiling water
2. Mix everything together
3. Pour the melted chocolate over the mix
4. Let it set in the fridge
5. Cut into bite-sized pieces & Enjoy!

• Living with an autoimmune disease - Ulcerative Colitis (U.C) is a challenge for sure.
•The medication I get atm, Remsima, has helped to reduce the flare-up I’ve had since March this year. My bowl’s ok atm. (I’ve listed the most common symptoms ⬇️ for those who don’t know what living with U.C means.)
• But since a couple of weeks, I have a lot of pain in my hips an knees, also some of the fun symptoms I have to live with 😅, and some days I just get SO frustrated and take it out on the machines at the gym. This session was one of those days.
• I know the form is a bit off (my balance is a bit off atm) and tempo is forced in some of the exercises. BUT, I did it. It was a well-needed therapy session!

▪️Most common GI (gut) symptoms
	•	Bloody diarrhea (the hallmark symptom)
	•	Urgency to have a bowel movement
	•	Tenesmus (feeling you need to pass stool even when the bowel is empty)
	•	Abdominal pain or cramping, often lower abdomen
	•	Increased stool frequency
	•	Mucus in the stool

▪️General symptoms
	•	Fatigue
	•	Fever (in moderate–severe flares)
	•	Loss of appetite
	•	Weight loss

▪️Extra-intestinal symptoms (outside the gut)

Not everyone gets these, but they are well-recognized:
	•	Joint pain or inflammation (enteropathic arthritis — common in UC)
	•	Eye inflammation (uveitis, episcleritis)
	•	Skin changes (erythema nodosum, pyoderma gangrenosum)

An UpperBody - Chest & Back workout today…. and some in-between-sets things I do. Like fix my hair, check my nails & some dancing. Always. Just to boost myself a bit 🙌🏻 Especially if I’m alone in the room 😋💃

Slow & steady progress.
Not every rep is perfect.
A little wobbly at times 😅
But so happy to have the energy to go to the gym again! 🤍
