This year, my birthday happens to fall on Father’s Day, and somehow that feels so fitting for the bond my dad and I had. Out of all the days it could have landed on, it landed on the day we both shared something worth celebrating. Him being a father and me becoming his daughter. There is something so beautiful about that, especially on my first Father’s Day without him here.
It has always been easy to celebrate my dad because of the man he was. I always say he is, and will forever be, the best man I have ever known. He loved with his whole heart, gave without hesitation, and made everyone around him feel important. But to me, he was so much more than that, he was my best friend and the man I looked up to the most.
We were truly two peas in a pod. We did everything together. Whether it was shopping, going to the movies, grabbing something to eat, or just running errands, we always found joy in being together. But looking back, it’s the little moments that I cherish the most. Singing and dancing in the car to it takes two or get down on it. Sitting on the porch talking for hours about life. The countless phone calls where I did most of the talking and he simply listened because he knew I needed someone there. The laughter we shared, the tears we cried, the advice he gave, and the comfort of just being in his presence.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. I miss hearing his voice. I miss his jokes. I miss his laugh. I miss calling him when something exciting happened or when life felt heavy. I miss having my person. But through it all I am so grateful. Grateful that I got to have a dad like him. Grateful for every memory, every lesson, every laugh, and every moment we shared.
Dad, I miss you every single day. I see pieces of you everywhere I go, and I carry you with me in everything I do. Not a day passes that I don’t wish I could pick up the phone and hear your voice one more time or come home to you on the porch waiting for me. I love you more than words could ever express, and I can’t wait for the day we’re reunited again. I’ll blow out my candle for you dad.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister🥹

If you know me, then you know Taylor. She is one of the most kindhearted, selfless, and caring people I know. She is always putting others before herself and making sure the people she loves are taken care of.

These past six months have been some of the hardest of our lives, and through it all, you have been my constant. Whether I need to cry, laugh, vent, or simply sit in silence, you’re always just one phone call away. Along with watching you step into this season of motherhood with such strength, grace, and love has taught me so much. I continue to learn from you every day. I am so grateful to have you not only as my sister, but as my best friend.

I hope this birthday is as beautiful and special as you are. You deserve all the love and happiness in the world.
