I’m Jess Bizer, Aquarium member since 2018. 🌴This space means so much to me! I could not imagine working alongside better people.

The sense of community at The Aquarium is a definite source of my creative energy. Since having a studio here, my work has grown through collaborating with other artists, musicians and performers.

The space itself is a source for inspiration as well. Our pool and tropical backyard have been stars in several of my installations.

I’d love to share some of the work I’ve been making here over the years, and a little bit about what this place has meant to my practice 💚🌴

Last night’s collaboration with Cristy Michel @shehersirmusic was incredible 🔥✨ live projections are new territory for me, so reacting in real time was such a thrill

Cristy’s sound opened up whole new pathways in the piece. It pushed the visuals into stranger, more fluid territory, the installation felt alive in a completely different way

UPDATE: The detective and Stevie's aunt were able to obtain video footage of the incident. The footage shows Stevie's rear brake failing, causing her to go over her handlebars. The video confirms this was a tragic accident and that foul play was not involved. Thank you to everyone who shared information and helped us search for answers

Rest in peace, Stee. I loved you so much. 💔💔💔

Thank you for all the laughs, the weirdness, and the endless jokes about jazz, jazz apples, whole foods, beads, and being beady, honestly I can’t look at beads without thinking of you, your sense of humor inspires me everyday. You’re one of the smartest and funniest and most creative people I’ve ever met

Thank you, too, for all the surprises you left in my mailbox over the years, like the photo of you with @algore and the Joe Meek mixtape that was everything, it had one Glen Campbell song at the end, that made all the sense in the world, yup

We’re still trying to understand what happened, and it’s heartbreaking

Stevie passed away peacefully at UMC on Wednesday after suffering a head injury while out on a work delivery from Jimmy John’s on Poydras St. It’s still unclear whether the injury was caused by a vehicle collision or another type of accident. Her bike was undamaged, and she had no other injuries

We’re hoping camera footage may help fill in the gaps. A friend is already in touch with NOPD, but we’re looking for any info on other cameras from Thursday, July 2, between 1:46 p.m. and 2:01 p.m. Please see the map in the second photo for the area
