Apple juice, rest, peace, calm, and connection. Naturno was everything I didn’t know I needed, a place to reset and restore, to come back home ready to create, serve, and make an impact.

This was a trip I’ll hold in my heart always.

SPOILER ALERT. Except, I don’t think I’m using the right term here but 😂🤷‍♀️.

Did you know that our significance doesn’t come from our accomplishments??? 🤯🤯🤯

Significance is the quality of BEING worthy of importance.

And the definition of BEING is a to exist.

SO. The spoiler alert is… you are significant simply because you exist. ❤️❤️❤️ by @jessdiers

I celebrated 9 years of sobriety this month. Here’s what the journey has taught me:

Who I become is a choice.
And choices are learned, practiced, and chosen again.
For nine years, I’ve chosen the next right action over drinking.

I’ve learned that I can ask for help.
I’ve learned that emotional sobriety is like an onion, every layer God unpeels stings the same, bringing tears and clarity all at once.

There are layers of pain, layers of beauty, and a thousand moments in between.

But I’ve stayed the course.
Choosing the next right action.
Asking for help.
Learning to walk through life with openness, honesty, gratitude, and humility.

And through it all, the greatest lesson is this:
I have never been alone.❤️ by @jessdiers

How do we find peace?
We learn to embody it.

A zebra foal instinctively walks along its mother’s side, close enough that their bodies touch as they move. It stands guard as she sleeps, nudges her awake when it’s time to nurse, and gently redirects her if she wanders the wrong way. The mother becomes the foal’s co-regulator, and its source of rhythm, direction, and safety.
The foal learns peace through her presence.

In the same way, we learn peace through proximity.
We don’t create it.
We receive it.

God is our co-regulator, the one we are invited to walk beside.

His presence steadies our breathing, our pace, our thoughts, and our very sense of safety. Peace is not achieved; it is absorbed through presence. ❤️ by @jessdiers

Fact-checking today is a lot like what we did in English classes — go beyond surface-level sources, look for peer-reviewed or well-documented scholarship, and always ask who wrote it, why, and how they backed it up.

In college, we were taught to look up scholarly sources — articles that are reviewed by experts before they’re published.

We didn’t just Google something and grab the first link; we had to use academic databases like JSTOR or Google Scholar.

We checked the author, publisher, and citations to make sure it was trustworthy.

That process helps separate opinion pieces or social media posts from well-researched evidence.

Here are additional tools for you:

1. Using Academic Databases
	•	In college, you probably had access to databases like JSTOR, ProQuest, EBSCOhost, or Google Scholar.
	•	Instead of just typing a full sentence (like on Google), you were trained to use keywords and Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) to refine your search.
	•	Example: “Christian martyr” AND theology

⸻

2. Peer-Reviewed Sources
	•	Professors emphasized peer-reviewed journals because scholars review each other’s work before it’s published.
	•	This was a safeguard against misinformation and made sure you were using trusted, scholarly perspectives.

⸻

3. Evaluating Credibility

You were taught to check:
	•	Author’s credentials (Are they a recognized scholar or expert?)
	•	Publisher (Is it from a university press or scholarly journal?)
	•	Date (Is it current enough for the topic?)
	•	Citations (Does the article itself cite credible sources?)

Are you putting your faith in politics, rhetoric, or even sermons?

If so, gently return to the truth:

The gospel is not a tool for agendas. It is the power of God to transform lives. by @jessdiers

Hate grows in the soil of misunderstanding.
Understand a soul—truly—and though we may still disagree, there will be less room for hate.

We all carry an inner compass—our God-given gift of inner knowing, intuition, and divine connection. Before seeking advice from others, we are invited to first sit quietly with ourselves and with God. In that stillness, we begin to hear the whispers of direction already present within us.

From that place of alignment, we can take our next step with confidence. When we do seek wise counsel, it is not to hand over the steering wheel of our lives, but to receive confirmation that we are on the right path. Advice is helpful, but it is not our compass. True direction comes from within, through God’s guidance and our own inner knowing.

The temptation, of course, is to take the easy way: to ask others to tell us what to do. But when we bypass our own discernment, we surrender the sacred relationship we are called to nurture with ourselves and with God.

Every time we pause, listen inwardly, and move forward from that place of trust, we make a deposit into our “trust bank.” Over time, this builds strength, confidence, and a deeper intimacy with God. Advice can be addictive because it feels easier, but it cannot replace the transformative journey of truly knowing who we are, what we need, and what is aligned for our lives.

Today, choose to pause, to listen, and to trust your compass within.

Sometimes all we notice are the limits in front of us — the circumstances weighing us down, the what ifs that linger.

Yet vision invites us to look past those limits. Beyond what the eye can see is a world full of potential. Here, in this very moment, our dreams will begin to grow. 🌱 by @jessdiers
