2024 brought its share of unexpected personal and professional challenges, but I chose to rise above and embrace an upward spiral of growth. With new lessons learned and changes welcomed, I’m evolving into a version of myself I admire. I’m moving forward, upward, and onward with realigned values and standards.

Gliding Barnacles on film from a roll that rested partly shot in my old SLR since at least 2010, and that had moved with me from Switzerland to California, then to Mali and finally to Portugal to be finished at Gliding Barnacles 2024. A cosmic journey of sorts...

Sometime late last year I decided to restart freediving. I had last dived before the pandemic and the little experience that I had gathered back then had dwindled over time. Inspired by my longboarding friend @josievolmary, I recently went to a freediving retreat with the beautiful souls from @freedivemenorca in the clear, blue waters of Menorca/Spain. The many breathing, stretching and diving sessions, the wonderful villa we stayed at in Binissaida, the delicious and nourishing food Pedro prepared for us daily, and the very best diving company I could have wished for 🫶🏽, let me quiet my mind, relax my body, trust, surrender and let go…

Thank you to @valeriaolives , @adam_delamare , @callea_ and @marinacastellorigo for your caring on point guidance and most importantly for sharing your joy and passion with me. It was contagious! ✨🙌🏽🐆🙏🏽🫶🏽❤

I have recently been thinking about how different dating is today in comparison to about 10 years ago, and I am truly reminiscing the good old times these pictures are originating from, before Tinder, Bumble, and similar dating sites were so popular, and when people would approach each other in real life. It has become easy to have the next date right at our fingertips, so that gems like these, which did cost the authors real effort (!), have become too rare or completely disappeared. I personally think it’s a real shame, and that dating sites have specifically made things easier for men, as they really don’t have to make much of an effort anymore to meet women. Effortless dating may sound good to us, but do we truly want to be with somebody who doesn't put much effort in singling us out and engaging with us? There are no doubt a lot of benefits to online dating, which helps us meeting different people, especially from outside our immediate surroundings and when we are more introvert. They also, and this probably is unconsciously most important for the majority of us, save us from immediate, potentially hurtful rejection. But hey, no risk, no fun, and no growth maybe either?! How much better is it if you actually meet somebody in real life, and when there is a story to it? So, why don’t we all approach each other in real life a bit more again? Why don’t we just speak to a person that catches our attention and try to get to know that person a bit better? Why don’t we just ask somebody out that may potentially interest us? It’s so much more fun and adventurous, as it is a real connection we forge, and it will make us grow no matter what the outcome is. Let’s speak more to strangers!

Bees have always been my spirit animals, and for the past approximately 10 years it was my dream to become a beekeeper, but it never quite fit in with my life. Last year the stars finally aligned, I took a course and jumped right into it with a first hive that I could place on a good friend‘s land close to my house 🙏🏼. At the time, the bee state I got from my beekeeping mentor was rather small, but I cared for it through last summer, fall and winter, and it now has grown to a large and strong state of at least 20‘000+ bees. 3 weeks ago, I added my first honey box on top of the hive to give the bees more space to build and to possibly make honey. Today, I found this and other very healthy looking honeycomb built into the honey frames with many of the hexagons already filled with honey. 🐝🍯 Nature has always been my constant companion, teacher and muse, and it keeps inspiring me every day. According to spirit animal literature, bees buzz into your life to empower you to live your dream, to set you free and to enjoy the pleasures of life. Bees also bring you a message of team work, and show you how much you can accomplish together with others and with the resources at your disposal.
