🥇I’ve been chasing this goal of sub-1:35 in the half marathon for awhile now. The road has been paved with challenges, doubts, fears, and obstacles.
The road has also been paved with compounded evidence, victories, growth, surprises, and celebratory moments.
🥇I like to believe that the latter always wins. The universe presented you with the opportunity to do the hard thing, because you are capable of doing it. Sometimes, even better than you’d ever have imagined.

❤️‍🩹One year ago, on May 8, I had surgery to remove two cancerous melanoma lesions from my abdomen and leg. During a year that had already been trending downhill, this surgery date is when things took a nosedive.
❤️‍🩹In retrospect, and because May is Mental Health Awareness Month, I am sharing that my physical health suffered last year because of my emotional struggles. When you are overcome with anxiety and depression and mentally broken, your body cannot withstand the fight. It will start to break down.
❤️‍🩹I am not the same person I was in 2024. I am a person who decided to do the work to heal. I took one small step at a time, away from what was pulling me under. One foot in front of the other. Right foot left foot repeat.
❤️‍🩹I’m not sure if I can say that running “saved” me. But it continues to show me *who I am.* And when you can see yourself as the magnificently strong and capable individual that you are- I *AM* sure that that is how we save ourselves.

🌈 Hey guys. It’s just me, standing under a rainbow, wearing a t-shirt that says “BOSTON BOUND,” and I’m here to remind you that a dream is a wish your heart makes.
You are capable of making all your dreams come true, when you work hard and believe in yourself. I believe in you, too.

“Whatever IT was, I was going to do it... and succeed.” ✨👟

In Episode 13 of Inside A Runner’s World, we dive into the powerful story behind the nickname “Just Do It.”

Born at the start of 2025 right after a challenging healing year, the moniker came from a simple, resolute choice: to push forward, overcome obstacles, and share every step of the running journey. What started as an Instagram name has grown into a mindset of pure positivity and determination.

NO ONE CAN DO THE WORK FOR YOU

In Episode 13 of Inside a Runner’s World, Jessica Persichini dropped a piece of wisdom that hits way beyond running.

Thinking back to her lowest points, she talked about how moving through a challenge really boils down to one simple, undeniable truth: you have to make the decision to do the work yourself.

Running is such a raw metaphor for life because there are no shortcuts. When things get heavy, progress isn’t fancy. It’s just:

 - Right foot.
 - Left foot.
 - Repeat.

At first, dragging yourself forward feels like a grind. But if you keep going, that simple, repetitive rhythm turns into the very thing that heals you.

Whatever you’re facing right now, remember—no one else can step onto the track for you. Just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving.

⭐️”Running is a solo sport.”⭐️
Well hmm. I think if you ask these people pictured here, they’d have a different opinion.
-Marie and Jeff flew in from Colorado.
-Jennifer and Caitlin drove down 3 hours from Traverse City.
-Sydney pulled a fast one- completely surprising me by showing up unannounced at our pre-race dinner after flying home from Texas and driving 2.5hours to be there.
-Julia raced a half marathon, won first overall female, jumped in her car and drove from Holland to Grand Rapids to watch me finish.
-The Saddle Team represented from near and far- both on the course and on the sidelines.
-And those not pictured; the multitude of calls, texts, messages, full of support (to which I am still working through!)

⭐️High tides raise all boats. It is that simple. When you surround yourself with great people who believe in themselves and others, it’s simply impossible to fail. Cheers to everyone pictured and not pictured who believed in me. I believe in you too. May I not just always be the friend who makes you proud; but may I always be the friend screaming for you to Dream, Believe, Achieve.

Thank you my darling friends. You are all the real Unicorns. 🦄 taken in Grand Rapids, Michigan by @jessdoit724

Jess ran her FIRST MARATHON this past Sunday and did so while incognito the entire block. Jess came off a huge half marathon PR this spring and was questioning what she wanted to do next. When I first started coaching Jess I told her she could qualify for Boston in her sleep and she told me I was crazy.

Fast forward over a year and I got Jess to sign up for Last Chance BQ. We spent all summer battling the heat and dialing in her mileage and nutrition. She was an absolute student of the game and trusted my judgement the entire way. It was truly an awesome experience to watch her grow this summer and see what she is capable of. During this time, which is way cooler than any running accolade, Jess raised over 1000 stuffed animals for the children’s hospital. This type of person is rare and one that you can really look up to.

Jess completely changed her outlook on running and ALLOWED herself to push past the unknown. It can be really daunting to embark on an entirely new journey, but Jess really showed us that it’s never that serious. JUST HAVE FUN!

Jess ran a 3:37 this Sunday for her first marathon and qualified for the Boston Marathon! I am pretty sure she had the most fun on the course Sunday because when we passed her she was bopping her head to music and yelled at me “I’m just chilling, this is great”! She was celebrated by a whole group of her friends after the race showing the kind of person she is.

Honored to call Jess a friend and I cannot WAIT to see her hit the streets of BOSTON. by @jessdoit724

I highly suggest convincing your fiance to fly to a different state to run his 18th marathon alongside one of your best friends at her first ever marathon, cheering her along for 3 hours and 37 minutes, and celebrating with the whole squad after she qualifies for the Boston Marathon 🪽🩵💛

Jess, you are an absolutely amazing human being and amazing athlete. Your love for the sport and your community is contagious. Thank goodness the @pumphousesurf brought us together all those years ago. Keep being you and the good things will keep coming! Thank you for letting us join you on this inspiring journey
