I can't really remember how I acquired my first deck of tarot cards: a 1975 edition of The Egorov Tarot, given to me before I could read anything, even books. That deck has been my companion for nearly forty years, as mysterious now as the day I got them.
From that moment on, I have collected all types of magic(k)al objects, and especially tarot cards. My tarot bio today, as we finish up preparations for Tarot Cultures, is "The Stones" from Edward Gorey's The Fantod Pack, the most recent deck I have been introduced to by a beloved colleague and friend.
I'd like to say this card speaks of standing strong in the face of adversity, the power of the ancient in the present, and the beauty of mystery. But Gorey says: "March / loss of teeth / a forged letter / paralysis / false arrest / falling sickness / estrangement / a sudden affiliction / anemia / strife / a distasteful duty / misconstruction".
So that sounds promising... @tarotcultures #mytarotbio by @jessfiend

Spooky Nyx with the “PRINCESS OF WANDS. The Princess of the Shining Flame: The Rose of the Palace of Fire” from Ithell Colquhoun’s Tarot as Colour.

“After I had completed the pack I saw some slides showing nebulas in outer space and the birth of stars. These recalled my designs and confirmed my conviction of their cosmographic function” by @jessfiend

Tarot Cultures celebrates the tarot as a living art - an instrument of intuition, design, and excess. Neither a museum piece nor a mystical novelty, the tarot is a space of speculation: a design object, a creative method, and a mirror for contemporary identity.
