Hi, I’m Jess Gleim. 👋🏻

(My husband calls me Growly Bear.)

I’ve made a lot of new wonderul friends lately through some new in-person connections, so I thought this was a good time to reintroduce myself.

I live in the mountains outside Salt Lake City, Utah, and being at the top of a mountain is probably my favorite feeling on earth.

I love skiing, hiking, Diet Coke, girl dinners, and Real Housewives.

I’m raising boys, which means my house is full of zombies, villains, and wrestling.

I love data and ads because it feels like solving a giant puzzle. And I love love love helping women make shitloads of money. Watching the right strategy finally click into place feels a little like magic.

Okay. Two Truths & a Lie:

1. I tried out for cheerleading every year in high school and never made the team.
2. The Jonas Brothers bought my Christmas card and it ended up featured on HuffPost.
3. I was once kicked out of a casino for winning too much money.

Last night, I brought my beloved lasagna to a Samhain gathering with a community of women, and we burned some shit. Literally.

We each brought a beloved family recipe and two items for the altar: one representing the season we’re leaving, and one representing what we’re calling in.

@alixandra.burrows who I worked with many moons ago, invited me. I hadn’t realized how deeply I’d missed her presence and energy until I was back in it. Sisterhood is one of my favorite things.

I’ve been thinking about what I’m ready to release. Where I hold myself back. How much energy goes into wondering how I’ll be received instead of trusting what I have to say.

In my life. In my relationships. In my business.

And this is the thought I’m carrying into this next season:

“The sun never worries if it will run out of light. It just shines.” 🦁✨

Your ROAS looks great. But were those customers going to buy anyway?

Because paying to capture a sale you would have gotten anyway eats into your profit. Even when the ad report looks fantastic.

If you’re a small business trying to grow, your ad strategy needs to prioritize acquiring new customers. And being a first-time customer doesn’t automatically mean the ad caused the purchase.

Branded search deserves scrutiny. So do Meta campaigns that keep reaching people who were already ready to buy.

The question is: did this ad bring in business we wouldn’t have gotten without it?

You’re investing in ads to grow your business. A report that makes your agency look good isn’t enough.

STOP paying for sales you would’ve gotten anyway. 🙅‍♀️

If you’re spending $50K/month or less on ads, my priority is new customer and client acquisition.

Your existing customers? Give them a reason to come back through email, SMS, and a great customer experience.

And a pretty big ROAS screenshot doesn’t answer the question that matters: did those ads bring in business you wouldn’t have gotten without them?

That’s what I want your ad dollars working toward.

You will never print money with Meta ads, consistently month over month until your organic ecosystem already works.

Paid Meta ads SCALE what's already working. You will never find a special secret audience, or some new crazy strategy to make it happen. Ads that make you money are about data. You're buying data. If you don't already have data, you're just trying fuck around and find out while Meta makes allll the money off of you.

Organic social media comes FIRST - before you run any Meta ads. You need to sell organically first. You will never ever ever ever hit the KPIs you need to actually make any money without organic content that already works.

Ads DO NOT work without organic content that already works. Quit trying to put the cart before the horse.
