My debut book, This Thing In My Head, has been selected as a winner of The African Laureate Award for Best Non-Fiction and Literary Excellence.
-
When I published This Thing In My Head on Sunday the 2nd of February 2025, my main aim was to get consistent readership, readership. I did not imagine that I would win an award for it, but here we are.
-
I had a little cry this morning as I thought about my writing journey so far. I often tell people that I came into the world with a book in one hand, and notebook and pen in another. I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing.
-
A big thank you to The African Laureate Awards for this recognition. Thank you.

In December 2025, the Editor-in-Chief of Fiction on the Web expressed interest in nominating my short story, 'On Tuesday', for the Caine Prize for African Writing. While the nomination could not proceed due to an administrative word-count technicality, the story's 1,574-word length falling below the prize's 3,000-to-10,000-word limit, the gesture was deeply validating.

I have been writing since childhood and have over twenty years of experience under my belt, alongside a 12-to-13-year presence on social media. Everything I create is driven by passion and purpose.
-
In my home, I have a dedicated space for my writing; whenever I walk past it, I am filled with joy.
-
Winning is a glorious feeling, but sometimes, simply being considered for an award is enough to remind you that you are capable of greatness.

In this book, I share both my perspective and my personal experiences, backed by real-life examples.
Growing up, self-preservation was heavily emphasized, especially for young girls and women. After everything I have experienced over the years, I finally understand why.

To Evolve: To Suffer, speaks to ambitious and accomplished young adults, high-achieving women who possess the combination of brains, beauty, and body, and strategic thinkers.
-
No one should have to honor a loved one on a memorial shirt because of other people’s envy. This isn’t meant to trigger paranoia or fear, but to remind us of the necessity of self-preservation.

I often say I entered this world with a pen in one hand and a notebook in the other. I have always had a thing for the written word. My journey started on social media back in 2013, sharing raw, unfiltered perspectives as a teenager who had seen so much so soon, so young. Today, over twelve years later, I have grown into a refined young woman who has stayed fiercely true to her roots, as well as a proud two-time author.
-
In my second book, To Evolve: To Suffer, I dive into the gritty realities of human nature: navigating male and female envy and the envy of youth, surviving smear campaigns, mastering street smarts, understanding the mechanics of psychological warfare, decoding power dynamics and social influence, countering culture, and rejecting performative humility.
-
Ultimately, To Evolve: To Suffer teaches you how to control your own narrative, set strategic boundaries, and build real-world personal intelligence and resilience. If you are committed to self-mastery and personal sovereignty, this book is for you.

My short fiction story, Caged, explores race through the lens of Black people raised in Western culture (with a particular focus on England), Nigerians raised in Nigeria, and society at large.
-
The narrative delves into interracial romantic relationships—specifically between White men and both Western-raised Black women and Nigerian-raised women.
It also examines childbirth and the profound role children play within Black and Nigerian cultures.
You can read it via the link on my website.
