So for the past 20 years we celebrated the month of May bc of being Asian heritage month. Marrying into a Filipino family and having my kids be half that we learned to embrace and celebrate.But this year and many more to come we have another reason to celebrate and spread awareness. May is also Mental Health Awareness month. I have never been one to judge anyone from what they go thru. But having to live with a teen who has struggled with this makes it hit home so much more. I will always fight for my kids and do whatever it takes to make them safe. But sometimes as a parent you cant fix everything. What I have learned is Mental health comes in all forms. And the scariest thing is most ppl with mental health are SO good at masking it and seeming ok until BAM...it all comes crashing down. And it is so hard for teens who deal with it bc their brains and hormones havent even developed all the way and then throw this into the mix. I dont and won't go into detail on social media what we have gone thru. But I am open to talk about it to anyone who has questions for maybe themselves or know someone who might be struggling. It is not something that just goes away. Mental health stays with you and you have to learn to live with it. Felt like this picture needed its own post. Yesterday the HS boys played Grandview Christian. After the game and hand shakes they got together and prayed. I personally have never seen this and it warmed my heart. They came together, 2 teams, mixed in with each other and prayed. She's got style, she got grace.....my beautiful daughter had her first winter formal last night. This girl has been thru the ringer this school year with fake friends and all the drama.
