🌼 bunga 🌼 bungi 🌼

guess which is mine and which is yanling’s?
i think its very obvious 🏃‍♀️

very pretty like the creator

我的蔬菜花束 — my veggie flower bouquet

i would have chosen the orchid if i saw it earlier. i did not.
但是都很好看

take photo at every mirror
take mirror at every photo

花容月貌.
no correlation whatsoever but my current favorite chinese idiom is 🚶‍♂️🗻🚶‍♂️🌊

every corner is pretty.

a nice shop owner offered to take us this photo. actually was kinda paiseh to say no. but man she knows how to take great pics!

you scrolled all the way here so you deserve a treat.

this is Lolo — a stray cat, who is the ‘landlord of Pearl’s Hill Terrace.’ he’d roam around the tenants’ studios so often that the tenants each have cat food to feed him like they ‘pay rent.’

yanling, with her cat sensing abilities, was already seeing some signs of cat existence at the corridor. and after a few minutes of searching, we found him lepak one corner like an uncle.

one of the staff at an art studio said that the tenants would feed him so much he used to be very fat. now he slimmed down. good job Lolo 👍

the origins of his name? apparently he was sick and someone brought him to the vet and named him Lolo. the fact that the tenants of Pearls Hill would collectively take care of a stray cat shows me the love of cats can bring people together. the power of 🐈…!

(actually this is the main post but i don’t want to easily give people the good treats.)

Lolo contemplating about life. actually Lolo has a friend which is a ginger cat. Ginger is the parking lot security guard. Lolo is the landlord. Ginger roams around the parking lot. we did not see the ginger unfortunately. taken in Pearl's Hill Terrace by @jessicassic

color grading practice with old footages from han river. also im a sucker for these old school hangul fonts. where the consonants are elongated & blocky but the ㅇ stays small & stays true to its character taken in 올림픽공원 Seoul Olympic Park by @jessicassic

i went to pulau ubin the other day because ① i’ve never been and ② i have free will.

thank God i learned how to cycle because if i didn’t, i’d genuinely have no choice but to travel everywhere on foot.

i wanted to know more about how people live there because it’s such a huge contrast compared to us living on the main island. some things i found out (which is probably only 1% of what their actual lives are like):

① most of the residents were born and raised there. there are no hospitals on the island, so back then they had to do home births and pretty much handle everything themselves.

② they keep themselves healthy because, again, there are no hospitals there. for anything severe, they’ll head to the main island. otherwise they just deal with things on their own.

③ their day-to-day life is really slow. ah ma’s drinks stall only opens on weekends. when i asked her what she does on weekdays, she just said “nothing” & honestly that answer stayed in my head for awhile.

it’s kinda crazy because pulau ubin is technically still singapore, but it feels like an entirely different world operating at a completely different pace.

would honestly love to go back again. their daily lives are still something i’m really curious about and want to understand more of.

🔊 sound on to hear our dialogues!

but my brain the whole time: wow
(as i verbally said multiple times)
you mean God created all these… unique fish and sea creatures?

from the frilly trails of the sea nettles,
the vibrant scales of the sail fin snapper,
the black spot on epaulette sharks to deter predators,
the leafy appendages of the weedy seadragon for camouflage

every detail He created for a purpose
just like how He created every single one of our traits

and that’s when i realize
the oceanarium was just God’s one big art gallery. taken in Singapore Oceanarium by @jessicassic

when we asked for recommendations in daejeon, a local person said, “daejeon isn’t fun.” but my friends and i think daejeon is really fun. it’s the same with people in indo or sg — we often think their own country isn’t fun at all.
it’s funny how we always feel our own country is boring, while outsiders can find beauty in it. kind of like “the grass is greener on the other side.” it’s a sign that i should try to find the beauty in where i live.
so how is it fun? it’s the pookies that made it fun <3 taken in 대전 by @jessicassic

our endless summers are the greener grass of residents of the four seasons

disclaimer: we don’t have autumn in singapore. thanks to the magic of color grading, the autumn leaves seen here are not real. and it was very hot. taken in Singapore Botanic Gardens by @jessicassic
