Chapter 15:

Caught Somewhere In between

It’s been a while since I wrote about my cancer journey.

I feel like I’m caught somewhere between rebuilding my life and still being in treatment, and that’s a surprisingly difficult space to sit in. Once the ‘hardest’ parts of treatment are over and life starts to look a little more normal again, the expectations change… from others, but also from yourself. Those that know me well know I am good at putting pressure on myself.

There is still a lot of grief for the person you were before cancer, while trying to embrace the person you are becoming, mentally and physically, when so much has changed.

Some days are still really tough. You don’t feel quite right or well, but you can’t always put your finger on why. Is it exhaustion? Anxiety? The endless list of random symptoms that seem to become part of this new normal? And then there’s the fear that every ache, pain or change could be the Big C making a return.

It’s a wild ride.

For everyone else walking this path, wherever you are on it, sending you continued love, strength and courage. ❤️

Feeling incredibly grateful to celebrate another birthday. 💕 A day filled with love, family and friendship. Thank you so much for all the thoughtful messages and birthday wishes. Here’s to 49… 😳🥂✨ by @jessicawarddance

Eleven. 🤍

How did we get here so quickly, little lady?

It honestly feels like the blink of an eye since I first held you, and now here you are… 11. I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing young lady you’re becoming.

You are kind, funny, determined, thoughtful and fiercely loyal. You make me laugh every single day, keep me on my toes (most of the time! 😂), and fill our home with so much love.

Watching you grow in confidence, embrace every opportunity and become so unapologetically you has been a great privilege. Never stop believing in yourself, never lose your kindness, and always let that beautiful sparkle of yours shine bright.

Happy 11th Birthday, my gorgeous girl. The world is yours for the taking, and I can’t wait to watch every chapter unfold.

Love you with all my heart. Always and forever. ❤️✨ by @jessicawarddance

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone… nature is so good for the soul! 🪴 by @jessicawarddance

Single parent, double the roles, and a whole lot of heart.

Today isn’t about sympathy - for me, it’s about recognising the quiet strength it takes to show up every day, to carry the weight, make the decisions, and still love fully.

To my two incredible kids - you are the sunshine and the strength behind everything. Our team of three is stronger than I ever imagined. It’s been quite the ride!

And to every single parent doing their best, especially on the tough day- it is enough. The juggle, the effort, the love… it all matters.

Here’s to doing it imperfectly, but with everything we’ve got 💪

About last night ✨

An incredible evening with @spin167 - 20 years since our studio days at Islington Green School!

We were completely swept away by The Red Shoes - fluid, powerful, and graceful movement, brought to life by stunning choreography and design from @matthewbourne13 and his brilliant @mbnewadventures team.

It was also wonderful to see former @elmhurstballetschool students @asharella14 and @_bella.chandler shining on stage. Moments like this remind me why dance inspires, connects, and stays with us long after the curtain falls!

Chapter 14:

Today was a milestone. Cycle 12 - marks the half way point through my pesky anti-cancer treatment. One year down and one to go on this particular drug cycle. The side effects are real! By February 2027 I truly believe I’ll be feeling like a new woman ✨ everything crossed 🤞

As we move through this time of year, I’m reminded that seasons change - even when things feel slow, hard, or uncomfortable. Growth is still happening beneath the surface, and brighter days do come 🌱

Sending big love to anyone in active cancer treatment right now or anyone caring for friends or family going through it. You are not alone.

Love Jess ♥️
