Author of RUINOUS CREATURES. Amateur artist. Michigander. A bit weird.

Friends! Friends. Look at this amazing piece created by @beforeviolets. I love it so much. They did such a great job bringing Adela, Kian, and Etana to life.

Obviously the three characters are fantastic, but I especially adore the details. That border. 😍 The star. 🤩

Please consider this my formal application to be your new favorite author! A bit more about me:

I'm the author of RUINOUS CREATURES, an adult romantasy set in a world where the skulls of mythological creatures are worn to access rare magic. In it, two strangers are accidentally, permanently matched through a pair of bonded phoenix skulls--upending one's plans for securing her community's safety and the other's path to vengeance.

It's available wherever you like to buy your books. (I'd personally recommend @tropetasticbooks if you want a signed copy!)

Outside of writing, I love art (making and admiring); have lived in many states over many years in my former life as a professional costume artisan; and will never say no to going to a coffee shop, library, thrift store, bakery (especially a pastry shop!), or on other low-key adventures.

Look at this thing! Isn't she neat? So excited to have such a gorgeous cover for my debut. I'm the luckiest.

How to Make a Quick and Easy Straw Witch's Hat

1: Abandon your morals. Or at least, the dozen years you spent learning and practicing millinery professionally for theatres. You will only tangentially be touching those skills.

2. Buy two straw hats from your local big box store.

3. Embrace any simmering rage you may or may not contain and tear them apart. Or at least, parts of them. It's easier if you don't actually start from scratch but who am I to tell you what to do?

4: Reconstruct your new hat using the straw braid and bits from the deconstructed hats, construction paper, way too much hot glue, and any fingertip pads you don't really value.

5: You have a cottagecore witch's hat! It's heavier than it ought to be and you better hope it doesn't rain when you wear it, but it'll keep the sun off your face and get you at least a couple of compliments at ren faire.

Recently took a linocut class at @adriancenterforthearts to create seed saving envelopes. Since I'm not a gardener, I went a bit esoteric with my prints.

But now what do I do with them?? What do I fill them with, and who do I give them to?

Also, any recommendations on other words to use? I'd like to make more and create a "FULL OF" series. by @jessicolejackson

A billiondy years (or 8ish months) ago my editor sent me the very first print copy of Ruinous Creatures, hot off the presses, and it's sat next to my bed ever since.

But now, thanks to a kit from @novelsandneedlesoh and a few hours of effort from yours truly, it's sitting there ✨bedazzled!✨ by @jessicolejackson

Signing! Here @tropetasticbooks until 8p. Come visit? by @jessicolejackson

Next week I'm doing my first signing. Nearly six months of RUINOUS CREATURES being out and I haven't done any events yet... All because I'm a scaredy cat. As a baby writer just starting to explore what it might look like to be an author someday I used to go to events all the time and a couple times I was the only attendee! Even for more established authors. So when the time came for me to start doing my own, I let my fear get the better of me.

Thankfully Julie @tropetasticbooks is the most encouraging and poked me to sign up for a signing twice, so here I am! About to face a big fear!

If you're in or around Adrian, MI next Friday, Sept 4 from 5-8p please come say hi. Buy a book or two or three and support an AMAZING independent bookstore. If one of those is mine, I'll sign it for you. 😂 by @jessicolejackson

Unboxing: German edition!

Look at this GORGEOUS girl. I'm so in love with the cover and the sprayed edges of the German edition of RUINOUS CREATURES. If I had any confidence in my pronunciation I'd read you the first page but sadly my high school and college German has gotten far too rusty for that.

Want to see a copy in the flesh? I'll bring one with me to my signing @tropetasticbooks on Friday, Sept 4 so you can see how pretty she is in person.

Expect an inventive magic system, audacious characters, political intrigue, and swoony romance 💜

Had fun @pages.of.glass this weekend! Didn't participate as an author but did add to the 5-star reads board.

This counts as self promotion, right? 😂 by @jessicolejackson
