POEMS syndrome. Three in a million. I found out in September.

The average patient is a 54 year old man. I’m a 38 year marathoner who teaches cycling for fun. Which is part of why it took as long as it did.

Some of you beautiful people are new to this space.

My name is Jessica but you’re fam - call me Jess.

I’m a 37 year old Haitian American mom to an amazing compact human named Logan Avery. She is my WOLRD.

I like to call myself holy AND hood. I love me some Jesus but I cuss and I’m petty. I know. He still working on me.

I’m a full time project manager in the finance industry and part time group fitness instructor. Oh and I LOVE to motivate women to start health journeys.

I’ve been through THREE health journeys myself.

First one started in 2009 and was VERY unhealthy. Eventually I found better methods and was even part of an informational! In total I lost 100 lbs.

Blessings happen and during my pregnancy I ate for you, me, the baby, and our cousins next door. After gaining 65 lbs during pregnancy, I lost 80 lbs in my postpartum journey.

Recently, I gained 30 lbs because of my previous anxiety medication. Thankfully through tools I know that work and it’s gone!

All this to say - I’m here for you. To be an example. To encourage you to keep going. To show you that an average mom of ONE can fill her cup and not have to be ashamed in doing so.

I’m here so you can feel seen. I hope you do.

For the women who are a work in progress and proud of it. ♥️

I’m not perfect. I’m not even trying to be.

But I am trying to be better than I was yesterday. Every single day.

Some days I nail it. Some days I’m apologizing by 10 AM. 🥹

I mess up. I own it. I try not to do it twice.

And through all of it, I treat people how I want to be treated. Do unto others. That part isn’t up for debate.

Giving up? Not in this lifetime.

Plan changed? Cool. Path changed? Fine. Whole plot changed? I’ll figure it out. I always do.

Do I process my feelings every time? Ehh... that’s between me and my therapist.

Hard and blessed can live in the same body.

The to-do list is long. The money is tight. The patience is thin.

And you woke up. Your legs work. There’s a roof over your head and people who love you under it.

Is it hard right now? Yea.
Is there still so much good? Also yea.

Focus there. Then go move.

You don’t. You’ve been doing project management under a different job title, and nobody told you.

The hard part was never the skill, it was the words.
