As if we needed more proof that Queen St is so back… in comes @the_windsor_room. An ode to Windsor House, the building @fablehotelsandresorts also calls home, and one of my favourite heritage buildings in the city (it’s been here since 1928!), the menu reimagines European classics with a modern take. It’s simple food done so so well. I couldn’t believe how delicious the butter-roasted chicken supreme was, especially with the bread sauce Royale. Like I said, it’s nostalgic and tasteful and dining inside the Art Deco building really adds to the experience. Also on a personal note, anything with a white table cloth and beautiful plating makes me so happy and this was as much of a feast for the eyes as it was for the belly (and soul)

I turned 35 today. A quiet morning setting intentions with fire because I decided to buy one of this floating wish kits but then I remembered how terrified I am of embers lol. Here’s to the most whimsical, romantic, abundant, and magical year yet. Happy birthday Jess Molina, you are the love of my life and this is my once a year referral to myself in third person ok? @so_auckland handed me the key to the city and here is everything it unlocked

Checking in to one of my favourite hotels in the city for an evening of rest and relaxation will never get old. But this time around, the itinerary was stacked with Key to the City deals!

But first, a dip in the underground pool @so_auckland

Dinner at @harboursociety where my mum enjoyed the food so much, she has convinced me to have my birthday dinner there this year… @so_auckland

Oysters!!!!

The kumara crisps, the bread and golden syrup butter (WOW), and this grilled squid with sweet corn puree was the perfect start to the meal @so_auckland

For the mains, we had the pork (mum’s favourite and actually mine too), the steak, and crispy potatoes and carrots on the side. It was so good I’m craving for it right now.

We were so full but couldn’t resist sharing some delicious dessert…

Woke up refreshed and slept in because the beds are just so damn comfy

If I was staying in all day, I’d be at this desk writing but we had a packed itinerary so off we go!

My first time trying acupuncture and I think that’s what’s so great about Key to The City is that it unlocks so many deals and discounts that it’s a great way to try things you’ve always wanted or places that’s been on your list because the discounts are so good @glowbodynz

I fell asleep during acupuncture… with needles on my face and my head. I couldn’t believe how relaxing it was @glowbodynz

I’ll definitely be back here again @glowbody @so_auckland

Then we headed down he road to @millerroadfragrances for a perfume workshop. I’ve always wanted to do this and it was so special to take my mum with me!

We had so much fun doing this together and also seeing that we picked very similar scents. The team at Miller Road said this was probably because I’m so influenced by what my mum likes and also the scents she wears brings that nostalgia and comfort subconsciously @millerroadfragrances

Learnt so much and have my own custom fragrance by the end of it! @millerroadfragrances

I named my scent ‘Weekend Staycay’ in honour of my Key to the C by @jessmolina

A whole new meaning to playing with your food… had a blast at PLAY, a one-off conceptual dining Supperclub by @sidsahrawat @rosesdiningtable presented by @camparinz and hosted @thefrenchcafe_auckland. I’m still thinking about the butter table and the most perfect dessert.

What I served: A Sunday casual look in the @__marle trench I cannot stop wearing. It’s new to my wardrobe but works perfectly with my most beloved pieces like this top and my favourite jeans!

What I was served: Bowls of pasta @pici.krd, porchetta, and the polarising cheesecake with sea salt and olive oil. A hearty Sunday night pasta on a rainy day is just so good!

What served me: It was raining and I wasn’t planning on leaving but I really wanted to checkout the new @faradays.store! So after hours of indecision, I got myself dressed and braved the rain and the queue to get in. It’s visually stunning, I made a purchase within 5 mins of walking in (it’s Libra szn ok!!), and then bumped into @misscarnage for spontaneous hangouts and a sneak peek of the beautiful @lotties.nz. So what served me was getting out of routine and trusting my gut to explore my city. Also getting the CRL to Karangahape served me very well. And my spontaneous decision to walk to @cordis_auckland to write and have a cup of tea under their gorgeous chandelier. A spot I frequented for many years but admittedly haven’t returned to for a while. It was wonderful. I stayed until very late and wrote a lot. by @jessmolina
