Mashup experiment between Radiohead and Philip Glass called… Mishima-Sulk 😏. Might be an off pairing, but it’s just for fun, wanted to hear how it would sound.

Radiohead’s Sulk is dark; themes of pointlessness, anger, self-destructive feeling. I can empathise if anyone has felt this recently, it’s been tough. I haven’t watched the film “Mishima” yet where Philip Glass’s incredibly beautiful music is from.

On a separate note, just realised most of my Pink Floyd work-in-progress reels are gone! As they’re sequenced from other people’s reels, if they delete it, mine disappears too. Sad that everyone’s comments are gone. by @jesstam_x

David Bowie orchestrations - reel 3!

The instrumental break in Space Oddity. All major chords have been slightly edited to open chords in this arrangement.

(reel 2). Smashing Pumpkins’ Mayonaise - verse/chorus 2. (skipped verse/chorus 1 as I’m still thinking about it).

I think the song suit a boy’s choir (or gospel choir)? Not sure why I’m thinking of religious-style choirs 😏

Anyway, I don’t have access to real choirs, so just a thought exercise! All I can offer is background Ah’s and Oh’s from a boy’s choir library :)

(Reel 1) From early 1970s Pompeii, we now move to early 90s Chicago :)

Umm, I don’t know who here would like both Pink Floyd and Smashing Pumpkins, and wouldn’t mind listening to orchestral takes, if you do, we must have similar tastes!

Songs I considered: Tonight, Tonight but it already has orchestral elements, so thought it was obvious how it would sound. 1979, I can’t be sure but felt it might be nicer on chamber size or quartet. I liked Today, even considered Cherub Rock (“who wants hoonneey….”) as thought it might sound cool on a big orchestra lol.

Pink Floyd’s Echoes Pt. 1 - FULL orchestral arrangement.

I got a pop-up saying reels over 3-min won’t be recommended to new people, so this 11-MINUTE (!!) reel will just be for a handful of us crazy peeps. 🙂.

Don’t think I’ll do Part 2...

Pink Floyd orchestrations - reel 11. A bit late due to work.

Reel 10 and 11 are very similar! To differentiate it, reel 10 had more 'arrangements' and is slightly more relaxed (like the original), whilst reel 11 is big, loud, in your face, with everyone playing (nearly) the same thing.

Nick Mason on his drums, in his black singlet and sunglasses is one of the coolest things ever.

And even though Wright’s keyboard is not as loud as the other instruments going at full tilt here, I always listen out for it in this section, don’t know why! So I included the piano in this orchestral version. The orchestra is going wild by now, but the piano is high pitched and can be (kinda) heard.

Project Pink Floyd Orchestrations - Echoes, reel 10. Join me as I finish orchestrating the whole of Echoes part 1, my favourite song (not doing part 2! It’s really long). A few more Echoes reels to come.

This famous riff is also the one that sounds like that motif in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera (but it’s really just a chromatic scale, so probably just a coincidence).
