Been keeping the lid on this for a while… but finally so excited to announce that I am a Top 3 #finalist in the @bklynlibrary @lincolncenter Anthem To US lyric-writing competition! This amazing writing journey began in January, and I still cannot believe my work has made it to this final stage! My lyrics have been set to music by the incredible @martharedbone and @cousinfromanotherplanet and the anthem will have its world premiere at #lincolncenter on Saturday July 6th! The concert will feature the three finalists and will also be a whole evening of world-renowned artists performing anthemic songs that sing of hope, humanity, protest, and resilience. I am honored to be part of this amazing event! 8pm at #damroschpark … Also, you can see my lyrics projected onto the #davidhkochtheater every Thursday-Saturday evening through August 10th! I almost never take selfies. I didn’t do it much when I was younger, and not at all recently. The truth is that I’ve noticed myself beginning to dislike my appearance a little. Started to feel older and less attractive, low energy, less confident, zeroing in on the gray hairs, the dark under-eye circles, the laugh lines and waistline, judging myself very harshly for an infinite number of things… but in recent months I’ve actively been taking better care of my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, and I’m realizing I should stop comparing myself not just to others, but to other/younger versions of myself, or idealized visions of what I thought/think I would or should be… plus I just got a fresh haircut today and I’m feeling rather fabulous. So here she is in her imperfect, messy, weird, nerdy, quirky, 38-year-old glory.I’ve only got one me after all, and I’m gonna start being a lot nicer to her. ♥️#selfie #selflove #benicetoyourself by @jessytomsko
