Pros (πρός) = toward, in the direction of, drawing near to.

Kyneo/Kuneo (κυνέω) = to kiss.

The Greek word προσκυνέω (proskynéō) is one of the deepest words in the Bible for worship.

Proskynéō means to bow before someone, to fall down in surrender, to pay homage, to express reverence and love through complete surrender.

Proskynéō is a life fallen at the feet of the King.

The First Calling of Worship

When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he said:

“All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:9

Jesus’ response was:

“You shall worship (proskynéō) the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” Matthew 4:10

Notice that Satan asked for surrender.

Because true worship always involves a throne. The one you worship is the one who governs you.

Proskynéō and the Broken Heart

The Samaritan woman heard Jesus say:

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23

The verb used here is also proskynéō.

Jesus was teaching that God is seeking people who surrender.

The Father is searching for men and women whose hearts say:

“Lord, I do not want only Your blessings. I want Your presence.”

In heaven, the elders continually bow before the throne:

“The twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him.” Revelation 4:10

The word is once again proskynéō.

The atmosphere of heaven is not self-promotion. It is surrender.

The closer someone gets to God, the less they desire to be seen.

The more they behold His glory, the more they bow down.

The wise men came from the East searching for the King.

When they found Jesus:

“And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.” Matthew 2:11

They traveled for months not to receive something. They traveled to give something.

Mature worship always asks:

“What can I offer to the King?”

The greatest expression of proskynéō is not when the knees bow.

It is when the will bows.

It is when someone says:

“Your will be done.”

That is what Jesus did in Gethsemane.

There was the deepest worship in history. by @jesussaveees

Lugares rasos não sustentam identidades profundas.

❤️‍🔥

Shallow places cannot sustain deep identities.

❤️‍🔥

When we seek our identity in the things of this world, we are digging broken cisterns that cannot bear the weight of our calling and may one day cause everything to fall apart. The true fountain of living water is God, and only in Christ can we discover the truth of who we are the One who fills us and makes us whole.

In Jeremiah 2:13, the Lord says:

“For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn for themselves cisterns broken cisterns that can hold no water.”

The fear of missing out or being left behind can drive us into a constant search for validation and social acceptance, pulling us away from our mission and even from the principles that govern our faith. Our identity is firmly established in Christ, not in the approval of others.

Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months. And the LORD blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.
2 Samuel 6:11

God's presence is never forced.
It does not invade.
It gently asks, "May I stay?"

The Holy Spirit is like a very special guest. He desires to dwell within us, but He remains only where He is welcomed and given room.

Is our life making room for the presence of God to dwell?

The Bible teaches that the Ark of the Covenant represented the presence of God.
When David was bringing the ark to Jerusalem, something went wrong: Uzzah touched the ark improperly and died. David became afraid and decided to leave the ark in the house of Obed-Edom.

And what happened?

In just three months, everything in Obed-Edom's life was blessed.

Why?

Because he knew how to honor the presence of God.
He did not treat it as a burden, but as a privilege.

I imagine the presence of God knocking on Obed-Edom's door and asking:

"May I stay with you?"

The ark remained with him because he knew how the presence of God should be treated.

May we also know how to honor the Presence that dwells within us.

God never forces His presence on anyone.
He simply asks,

"May I come in? May I dwell within you?"

The answer depends on us. by @jesussaveees

God says:

Son, daughter, I don’t just want your voice in the service, I want your heart in the room.
I don’t just want your tears at the altar, I want your tears in the secret place.
I don’t just want you to seek Me when it hurts, I want you to seek Me every day.

Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; pray.

Isaiah 26:20

God has always called His people to the secret place.

The Holy Spirit is calling this generation back to the secret place.
Not out of obligation, but out of hunger.
Not because of religion, but because of love.

Close your eyes now. Imagine your room. Imagine closing the door. Imagine yourself kneeling before the Father.
He is there. He is already waiting for you. He doesn’t need to be convinced to come.
He only needs you to show up.

Give your time to God.

We don’t have to beg for God’s presence; we just need to consistently give Him our time.

Our life must flow from our secret place, because the more we are transformed by Him, the more we can transform the world around us.

As we study the Scriptures, we discover the nature and character of the Lord, we establish our identity, and we learn to trust His promises.
The Scriptures reveal who God is and who we are in Him.

Tameion symbolizes the “secret place” where one prays—away from display, vanity, or spectacle—a place of intimacy with God.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

Matthew 6:6

The secret place is not just a closed room.
It is the meeting of your soul with the Creator.
It is when you stop pretending, take off the mask, and pour yourself out before God.

In the secret place, you don’t need performance, eloquent words, or applause.
It’s just you and God.

It is in the secret place that the tears no one sees are gathered by the Lord.

It is in the secret place that the emptiness of the heart is filled by the Presence that never fails.

It is in the secret place that identity is established: you stop being what others say you are and become who God says you are.

While the world tries to label you, in the secret place God calls you son, beloved, chosen. by @jesussaveees

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion.
Upon the willows in the midst of it, we hung our harps.
For there those who carried us away captive asked us for a song; and those who had destroyed us asked us to rejoice, saying: “Sing to us one of the songs of Zion.”

Psalm 137:1-3

This Psalm speaks of a people who lost their identity, lost their land, and lost their desire to sing.

Many people today are like this. They love the Lord, but they have been wounded by people.
They have a calling, but their “harp” is hanging.

Babylon is a symbol of emotional exhaustion and situations that steal your hope.

There are people who are in church, but inside they are sitting by the river weeping, because they remember a time when they were stronger, more courageous, more passionate, and more full of faith.

The harp was a symbol of worship, purpose, calling, and identity.

When the people hung their harps, they were saying:

“I can no longer sing like I used to.”
“I no longer have strength.”
“My heart is too tired to worship.”

The oppressors said:

“Sing for us.”

It is as if hell says:

“Where is the strong Christian you said you were?”
“Where is your faith now?”
“Where is your joy?”
“Where is your praise?”

And many have been living this internal battle:

They want to sing, but they are wounded.
They want to pray, but they are tired.
They want to rise again, but they carry trauma.

Babylon was not Israel’s final destination.
It was a season.

So is your pain.
Your exhaustion.
Your trauma.
Your fall.
Your doubts.

It is not the end.
It is a process.
It is a journey.
It is a season.

The harp represents:

What God placed inside of you.
What you thought you had lost.
What you set aside.

The Holy Spirit says:

“I have not given up on the sound I placed inside of you.”

No one can steal what God placed in your spirit.

Not Babylon.
Not a relationship that hurt you.
Not disappointment in ministry.
Not sin.
Not trauma.
Not your fall.
Not what happened to you.

Healing begins when you recognize where you are.

Israel wept.
And that is important. by @jesussaveees
