December 3 is always a little celebration for me, because…

Today it’s exactly 4 years since I stepped on the plane to start my big travel adventure ☀️

4 years full of beautiful moments and also 4 years of sometimes missing my family and friends a lot. That’s part of it…

My adventure in a nutshell:
• Discovering everything for the first time in Colombia (solo backpacking, paragliding, diving, kitesurfing, horseback riding)
• Sailing toward Panama and Panama Canal
• Volunteering at a sailing school
• A short stop in Costa Rica and then back to the Netherlands for 2 weeks because my grandma passed away (that’s part of life too)
• 7 months in Mexico with longer stays, trips with a friend, volunteering at a retreat center and meeting a Dutch guy ❤️
• A 2 week long date in Ecuador with that Dutch guy 😉 including the Amazon
• Celebrating Carnaval in Rio and traveling through Brazil
• Jumping on board as crew in Sint Maarten to sail across the Atlantic with a stop in Bermuda ⛵️
• Arriving in Portugal after 2 months at sea and then 3 months in the Netherlands
• Traveling to Peru together with that Dutch guy and buying a campervan in Chile 🚐
• 7 months crossing Patagonia with our camper Bassie and discovering the most beautiful spots
• 4 months in the Netherlands while leaving our house on wheels behind for the winter
• Back to Chile and Argentina to explore the north (the desert) for 5 months
• Selling Bassie and 3 months in Mexico 🌯
• 5 months in the Netherlands to become an aunt
• One month in Malaysia and seeing friends in Singapore
• And now 2 months in Thailand (work, sun, beach, food, exercise and repeat) ☀️

When I write it all down, I feel pretty proud. Four years of adventure, growth, love, sunshine and unexpected connections.

Throughout all these 4 years, I kept working. Some periods more than others, but in these 4 years I watched my business grow steadily.

The coming months I’ll stay in Asia and the summer I’ll be back in the Netherlands again. I say “we,” because I’m still traveling with that lovely Dutch guy 🫶🏻

Do you also notice the pattern in the list above? Every year I stay one month longer in the Netherlands 😉

There is it's! A year ago we bought Bassie and we finally made a van tour video.

Welcome to our little house on wheels!🤩

Mi casa, es tu casa

🚐 Bassie has brought us so many adventures, he has also let us down now and then, but fortunately nothing that could not be solved!

Any questions? Ask them in the comments ⬇️

Hoi An 🇻🇳 One of these places with the perfect mix.

We came for a week. Then extended by two. Somehow we ended up staying two months 🙈

So what's the magic here? For me, Vietnam still hits that sweet spot between hip little cafés and hidden gems on one side and raw, authentic culture on the other. You'll sip your coffee in the morning and then pass someone working the rice fields by hand (or with a buffalo!) on your way out of town. The traditions here aren't a show for tourists, they're just... life. And you feel that!

We stayed right in between the rice fields, but the beach and the old town were both just a short scooter ride away. The center is car- and scooter-free, so you can actually wander around and get lost in it. Yes it's touristy, but still charming!

The @runandfun.vn runclub gave me a whole crew of lovely people I never would've met otherwise 💛

And then there's the FOOD. I'm sorry but I need a moment for this. Vietnamese food is on a completely different level, every single meal was ridiculous 🤤

What I loved most was how simple life felt here. Slow mornings, good food, good people, no rush. It felt so right that we already know we're coming back. When? That's still a little secret 😉 taken in Hoi An, Vietnam by @jet.legs

Een weekend vol lachen, mooie gesprekken, slechte grappen, te weinig slaap en herinneringen die nog lang blijven hangen. Dankbaar voor deze groep. Op naar de volgende! 🍻✨ #Vriendenweekend2026 by @jet.legs

Koh Phangan, the second place we stayed more than a month. I loved it! 🌴

Koh Phangan is famous as the spiritual island of Thailand, but it became a bit too famous. Rent prices increased a lot in recent years and there are SO many yoga schools, retreats, and wellness centers.

This is all happening on one side of the island. The other side is famous for the "Full Moon Parties" - known for crazy busy beach parties. We stayed on the spiritual side, as I'm closer to 30 than to 20 now 😂

It's a real tropical island, so we enjoyed our time living the best island life. We celebrated Christmas and New Year's on the beach with some people we met and enjoyed many sunsets!

Of course we worked a lot from cafes, especially at one place.

A hidden gem and I love it: @orionhealing

We rented a small bungalow and a small puppy lived next door, he made our time there 😍

We loved our time, but it was also quite busy... Will we go back? Maybe!☀️ taken in Koh Phangan, Thailand by @jet.legs

Koh Lanta - the first place in Asia where we stayed longer 🌴

After we sold our campervan last January, we went to one place in Mexico for a few weeks. We liked not moving every few days. Despite having our own home on wheels, we were still traveling and moving a lot!

We went back to the Netherlands for the summer and made a conclusion: we're going to Asia to meet more like-minded people and to stay longer in places.

But when we were making plans for our trip, we became a little too enthusiastic and our first 1.5 months in Asia we traveled a lot again. Oops 😅
So we decided to look for a nice place to live for a month. We found Koh Lanta.

During our weeks there, we got into a nice routine. On weekdays we worked out, worked and ended the day on the beach watching the sunset. We met some nice people and had fun. On weekends we rented a scooter and explored all the beautiful beaches.

Koh Lanta is quite small, so it was nice to drive around and enjoy the simple life.

Will we go back? Probably not, it was a little too quiet for us long term. But it was exactly what we needed at that moment ☀️ taken in Koh Lanta, Thailand by @jet.legs

Seeing friends from home somewhere else in the world always feels extra special. You get to share this unique experience together.

For us, it means sharing the life we live 8 months a year with people we actually care about, that's really special.

We reunited with Marit, Jorin and Julian in Singapore. Here are some snapshots from our days together 💛 taken in Singapore by @jet.legs

Langkawi, Malaysia 🌴
We spent 5 days on this tropical island.

Fun fact for my Dutch followers: this is where they film Expedition Robinson 😄

We took the cable car up the mountain AND walked across this insane curved bridge with views over the whole island.

The waterfalls where you can literally slide down the rocks? So much fun!

And then we found this blue hole... completely empty, just us. Magical doesn't even cover it. Easily my favourite spot 💙 (last photo!)

After all the busy places, Langkawi gave us the perfect mix of adventure and chill vibes☀️ by @jet.legs

How I find accommodation as a digital nomad?

Deciding where to go is already a whole process (picking the right place, timing, etc. I'll make another post about that).

But once you've chosen a destination, where do you actually stay? Here's how we do it:

☀️ Decide how long we want to stay
First time in a place? Usually 1 month to start, then extend if we love it.

☀️ Research the right neighborhood
Not too busy, but close to cafes, restaurants and everything we need. Location makes or breaks your experience.

☀️ Set our requirements
A (shared) kitchen, private bathroom and a proper desk/table to work from.

☀️ Start the search
Booking.com, Airbnb, Google, and Facebook groups. We check them all.

☀️ Look into coliving spaces
Sometimes staying with other digital nomads is exactly what you need for community and connections.

☀️ Join local housing Facebook groups
This is where you find the best deals and local rentals that aren't on the main platforms.

☀️ Ask about long-term rates
Monthly rates are usually WAY cheaper than the nightly rate. Always negotiate.

☀️ Book short first (if possible)
We try to book just a few days initially, then extend once we've seen the place and the area.

Investing time in finding the right place is SO worth it. A good home base brings peace to the sometimes chaotic nomad life 😄

What's your strategy for finding places? Any tips to add?
