The 996.3 has been tucked-up at @litchfieldmotors since the last @manthey_racing trackday at the ‘Ring. More little upgrades to come but just had a new set of @apexwheels ML-7RTs arrive. And they’re gorgeous!

Same sizes - 9 x 18 up front (ET46 offset), 11 x 18 rear (ET60) - but this time in Race Silver. Excited to see the car on silver wheels and also having a second set for fresh/different tyres is going to be so much more convenient.

Also, nice to see the car in the sunshine again. Feels like the good days here in the UK are dwindling, but looking forward to road tyres and some wet miles, then get ready for more laps at the ‘Ring in 2027.

First time ever at Car Week. Although, for me it’s Car Day as I’m flying home tomorrow.

There’s a lot going on. Some of which involves blue tyres. But new Defender Dakar sounds pretty mighty. Love the OCTA already and this is going to be waaaaay more extreme and rumours even of an optional rollcage etc. Like an OCTA GT3 RS, but for off road. And it has a special ‘flight’ setting for big jumps. More cars need a flight setting.

Amazing shots to go with previous video clip. Feature is in the latest issue of Top Gear. A day at the factory, two further days on a mega road with two of Horacio’s own personal cars and a new Utopia Roadster, perfect weather and a proper exploration of Pagani’s brilliant story.

Fascinating to drive these things back-to-back and in the recent context of the hypercars from Ferrari, McLaren etc.

Pagani doesn’t chase numbers nor really concern itself with what everyone else is doing. The result is unique and arguably way more road relevant and useable than so many of the downforce-obsessed ‘rivals’. In some ways these aren’t hypercars at all. Just supercars taken to their natural conclusion and executed with materials and quality that’s hard to comprehend. Absolutely love each one of them.

For those about to get all frothy over auction results and ‘one of ones’ and zero mile icons at Monterey Car Week… remember that the magic of the world’s great cars only fully reveals itself when you drive them.

This was from a recent @topgear shoot with Zonda F Roadster, Huayra Roadster HP (both Horacio’s private cars), plus a new Utopia Roadster. Full video to follow. It was a pretty good few days. And the Zonda has still got it.

It’s been a bit of a Hypercar overload lately - I’m not complaining! But driving the 750S again reminded me how hard it is to go meaningfully beyond a modern ‘mere’ supercar. This or the Ferrari 296 (and particular the Speciale version) are just soooo fast, so capable and huge amounts of fun. The new ultra high-end stuff is amazing but well into the realms of diminishing returns.

The 750S loan was for a charity track event hosted by @chrishoy1 for @tour_de4

Although vastly under qualified compared to the other drivers (F1, BTCC etc), the 750S spared my blushes and was unbelievably rapid, completely consistent over 2.5 hours of flat-out lapping and smoked its tyres and spat flames like a hero. I maintain that nothing quite delivers a supercar hit like this thing. Absolutely wild and hilarious fun. The guys and girls who experienced it from the passenger seat were shocked and amazed.

This was ages ago now… but haven’t stopped looking at used 720S since. They are just awesome things.

Our huge 911 video now live on @topgear YouTube channel. It’s a long watch but you can’t cover a subject as big as this in 10 mins. Well, you can, but why would you want to? Please settle in and enjoy…

I hope we cover this in the video, but obviously there could be literally dozens of contenders and inevitably we had to slim the list down to a manageable group. As the test played out I did wish we had room for a couple more - notably a 996 GT3 RS, I think - but we covered most bases. You could also have gone for a car with broader appeal. A 993 Turbo, perhaps. But, when you get these sorts of cars together it’s always the purest qualities that shine, so I don’t think a more rounded car would have worked its way to the top. Not when the hardcore stuff delivers such a concentrated hit of what a 911 is all about.

Sadly, we all serve the mighty algorithm so this video won’t get the views of a walkaround of some hypercar or another that 50 people might one day own. But, it’s great to get into the weeds about the driving experience of these brilliant cars. So, if you could please watch maybe we can gradually start turning the Google gods towards something other than showing you what buttons to press to activate Race mode on a carbon fibre creation that may or may not ever really exist. In fact, watch it once, then set it playing in the background another 10 times.

Anyway, what a few days. A great reminder that Porsches are celebrated because of what they do for the driver and parking them on lawns to worship basically misses the point. Get stuck in and they are truly magical.

A little bit of appreciation for ‘normal’ cars. Yes, they have become eye-wateringly expensive - this Cupra Leon estate VZ1 is just over £50k as tested - but they can do sooooo much. In the last month it’s taken me to the Ring, Le Mans and done laps at a very posh @pirelli trackday at Silverstone. As well as all the usual airport runs, school runs etc.

It has 328bhp, ripped to 165mph on the autobahn and cruised at 130+ for miles. And somehow managed 35mpg.

At Silverstone the four-wheel drive worked really well. Definitely so, so much better than previous gens of VW group cars that just feel front-drive when pushed. Not as extreme a tune as something like RS3, but maybe a bit more natural. Engine is really cool at the top end, too.

The Cupra isn’t perfect. 15 suspension settings and none of them quite nails the control/suppleness combo. But, bloody hell new cars have such breadth of capability. The weird thing is, nobody seems to know this car exists but it ticks so many boxes. Anyway… normal supercar/hypercar service will resume shortly. 🎻🎻

Le Mans 2026 done. My god, who invented 24hr races?

Great to work with so many clever people. By which I mean @leena_gade

But everyone else is cool, too. 😂 Big respect to the commentators and live hosts on the grid. It’s SUCH a hard job and they made it look easy. Really fun to see a big broadcast tick. Mega crew, too. So many camera and sound people, all doing things I don’t understand.

Anyway, I’m officially fooked. Time for beer, bed and then the long drive home.

Latest issue of @topgear is out and features many, many 911s in an effort to discover which is the greatest of them all. From 2.7 RS to 992 S/T on some mega roads in the Black Forest. Perfect weather, too.

So many contenders and wish we could have taken about 20 finalists, but there had to be a level of restraint! Think the group we settled on was pretty mighty.

There will be a @youtube video to follow. Which will be an epic. Sorry about that, but you can’t gather all these cars and cover their character in 12-minutes. Huge thanks to @porsche.museum for facilitating and letting us enjoy the cars properly. And to @j.bergmeister for joining us, too. It was an unbelievable few days.
