Someone once told me they knew I was playing chess, while everyone else was playing checkers. I don’t know how to play chess, my mentor taught me how to play monopoly though.

Build an empire, or die trying 🥂

The goal was always to make this about the community, not to put them in the shadows or in the background, but to give them the main stage, as the main act, where their talent and art deserve to be.

For years, the art coming out of our community has been overlooked, undervalued and overshadowed. When people looked for Tamil art and entertainment, the attention was almost always directed toward India, while the incredible talent emerging from the diaspora rarely received the same spotlight.

But that is changing.

A new wave is here.

Across music, film, entertainment, comedy and beyond, the Tamil diaspora is creating, innovating and making its presence impossible to ignore. The attention is shifting. The noise is getting louder. And if you haven’t tuned in yet, there’s no better time than now.

We’ve been blessed and honoured to play a part in curating special moments that celebrate the success, talent and movement of our diaspora. But this is only the beginning. There’s still a long way to go, many more stories to tell, and many more moments worth celebrating.

Cheers to everything our diaspora has accomplished, and cheers to everything still on its way. 🥂

The stage is ours. 🧿 by @jethu2jet

Portraits & Conversations
Episode 1 — @jethu2jet

An ongoing project to archive the people who’ve inspired me along the way — creatives, leaders, and builders who've pushed our culture forward in their own way.

The hope is that years from now, these portraits and conversations become an archive of the people who helped build this moment in time.
