We were afraid that India was not going to let Shayne in.

It took a hot minute and just as we were getting pretty nervous, they came back and stamped his passport and let him in.

There was some confusion because the agent that helped me actually processed my passport incorrectly and Shayne’s agent caught it. We’re not exactly sure what happened, but we made it to India.

Yay!! It’s my 50th country!!!! And it’s Shayne’s 34th country (he’s catching me!!) and our 18th country since we left 2 1/2 years ago to travel full time.

We took a 14.5 hour @americanair flight from JFK to New Delhi and we slept about 12 hours of our flight! ✈️ f you’ve been here before, send us your India recommendations by @jetsetpetersons

Disneyland we’re coming for you!!

We have the tradition of gifting our family a trip instead of presents every year for Christmas. In the past we’ve done Hawaii, California beach stays, Lake Powell houseboat adventures and Utah snowboarding trips. And this year, we’re bringing the whole crew to @disneyland ! In our opinion, memories make the best gifts and this year might just top them all!! by @jetsetpetersons

I came home from years of traveling with a huge collection of leftover money- Vietnamese dong, Egyptian pounds, Swiss francs, Thai baht, you name it!! I honestly just kept shoving it in a drawer and didn’t realize how much I had until I gathered it all recently and was shocked! I exchanged it and walked away with €150 just in time for our trip to Europe!

💡 lesson learned:
✔️ use up your cash before leaving a country. Now we grab snacks at the airport, leave tips for hotel workers, pay for our last meal, or even donate coins at the airport.
✔️better yet, stick to credit cards where possible so you’re not left with a drawer of expensive souvenir cash.
✔️banks and currency exchange companies will not exchange coins so be sure to get rid of those. (Yes, I still have a huge jar full of foreign coins at home!)
✔️and remember to avoid exchanging cash at the airport because of terrible exchange rates. by @jetsetpetersons

Ghosts? Not scary. 👻

But missed flights, outrageous baggage fees and the thought of giving up our full-time travel adventures? TERRIFYING!

We’re empty nesters in our 50s who traded our house for a world full of adventures, and we’re not ready to stop exploring anytime soon!

What’s your biggest travel nightmare? by @jetsetpetersons

We raised four daughters, became empty nesters and then did something nobody saw coming. We took off to see the world!

Now as full time travelers in our 50’s, people always ask us about our five year plan.

And it’s pretty simple. More beaches, more passport stamps, more sunshine and as many adventure as we can squeeze into this season of life before it slips away.

The kids have flown the nest, and so have we!!

What’s on your five year plan?!? by @jetsetpetersons

This feels illegal... but it’s actually one of the BEST travel hacks we’ve ever found!

We rented a campervan in Europe for nearly TWO WEEKS for just $17 TOTAL!

Yep, you read that right. Not $17 a day. $17 for the entire rental!

The secret? Vehicle relocations! Rental companies need their vehicles moved, and they’ll let you drive them for next to nothing.

And this isn’t just a Europe thing! You can find deals like this in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South America!

We still paid for gas, insurance upgrades and a few extras, but the savings were incredible.

And it’s not just campervans. You can find cars, RVs and motorhomes too!

👇 Comment VAN and I’ll send you my Yahoo article explaining exactly how we did it and where you can find these crazy deals! by @jetsetpetersons

Wait... a river cruise AND a biking adventure?!

We’ve explored Europe by planes, trains, cars and cruise ships, but this might be one of our favorite adventures yet!

We spent a week exploring the Danube on a bike and boat cruise with @eurobike_radreisen, cycling through gorgeous countryside, stopping in charming little villages and eating our fair share of pastries along the way.

And the best part? Our floating hotel followed along! Every afternoon, we’d hop back onboard for a hot shower, delicious dinner and a comfy bed. No packing and unpacking. No hauling luggage. Just a whole lot of fun!

I rode an e-bike, Shayne rode a regular bike, and we both loved the freedom to explore at our own pace.

A huge thank you to @eurobike_radreisen for hosting us on this incredible adventure!

I’m also so honored to write for @shebuystravel and share experiences like this with their readers. My full review is now live, with all the details on the itinerary, what to expect and tips for planning your own bike and boat cruise.

🚴‍♀️ **Comment BIKE and I’ll send you the link to my full SheBuysTravel article!**

I’d absolutely love for you to check it out and give this post a little love! Every like, comment and share means so much as I continue growing my travel writing career. ❤️

And tell me, would YOU try a bike and boat cruise? Or would you rather stay on the boat and enjoy the view?

Save this for your Europe bucket list!

A few days ago, I stumbled across people talking about me, my family and our decision to travel full time on LinkedIn.

Spoiler alert: they had some opinions.

Apparently, to some people, selling almost everything in our 50s to travel the world meant we’d chosen adventure over our family. Some thought it was pretty selfish.

You can bet I have thoughts. 😡

I wrote about the guilt, what our life actually looks like and why I’ve stopped believing that loving your family and living your own dreams have to be an either/or choice.

Would you spend 33 hours on a ferry? Because this was NOT what we expected.

We took the @fred.olsen.express from mainland Spain to the Canary Islands with our campervan, and honestly, we were preparing ourselves for a very long ride.

Instead, we got a private cabin, meals, huge outdoor decks, incredible ocean views, Wi-Fi, movies, games, activities and...a POOL. On a ferry. 🤯

Somewhere between the sunshine, meals and watching the Atlantic roll by, it started feeling a whole lot more like a mini cruise than transportation.

And 33 hours later, we rolled off in Tenerife with our campervan ready for our next adventure.

Would you take the ferry or just fly? 👇

Welcome to the not so glamorous side of Van life.

Christmas Vacation is one of Shayne’s favorite movies so I couldn’t resist this!! (But please excuse the bad words!) 😂 by @jetsetpetersons

Hi!! We’re Shayne and Shelly. We sold everything three years ago to travel the world together full time….. which means we’re together A LOT!

And yes, sometimes we wake up a little cranky and get a little sick of each other.

But don’t worry. We have yet to be so annoyed at each other that a day at the beach can’t fix it. 🏖️ ❤️ by @jetsetpetersons

You’ve never seen a room tour like this. 🚐

Hi, we’re Shayne and Shelly, empty nesters traveling the world full-time, and THIS will be our home for the next two weeks.

We’re taking this little Indie Campers van from Bordeaux to Barcelona, then road-tripping down the coast of Spain before driving it right onto the @fredolsenexpress ferry to Tenerife for a week.

But here’s the best part…

We got this campervan for about $17.

TOTAL.

For TWO WEEKS. 🤯

There’s definitely a story behind that. We’ll share exactly how we did soon so stay tuned!

For now… would you live in this for two weeks? 🚐 by @jetsetpetersons
