A little taste of home, thousands of miles away. 🇵🇹🤎

Sofia’s Place was one of my first stops in Lisbon, and I quickly understood why so many Black travelers recommended it.

The food? DELICIOUS. I ordered the churrasco à moda colombiana, enjoyed some wine, and was even treated to coconut cake on the house.

But what made this place special was the people. Between taking shots with the owner, meeting fellow Black travelers, and making new friends, it felt less like dining out and more like being welcomed into someone’s home.

Good food, good people, and a reminder that community can find you anywhere in the world.

Many trips later and I think it’s time for a JetSet Guide ✈️

My sister lives in Wilmington, so I’ve gotten to experience this little coastal city a few different ways: for a wedding, a birthday weekend and most recently, a beach weekend that Mother Nature had other plans for 😂

And tbh? Wilmington has surprised me. The riverfront is beautiful, I have yet to have a bad meal, and the nightlife is way more lively than I expected.

It’s also one of those places that just works for a weekend. You can eat well, explore downtown, get some history in, hit the beach and still leave with enough on your list to give you a reason to come back.

I already know I’ll be back, so consider this The JetSet Guide: Wilmington - Vol. 1.

Y’all, we weren’t even supposed to go. 😂

Our beach day got rained out, so my sister and I pivoted and went to the Cameron Art Museum—and I was honestly so surprised by how much there was to see.

What really stood out to me was the exhibit titled Rooted in Memory: The Gullah Geechee Vision of Jonathan Green featured in the special exhibit. The colors were so beautiful against the white gallery walls, and you could tell the way the work was displayed was very intentional.

We kept turning corners and finding more and more art, and what started as our rainy-day backup plan ended up being such a beautifully curated experience.

If you’re an art lover visiting Wilmington, I’d definitely add this one to your list. And I’d absolutely go back the next time I’m visiting my sister if there’s a special exhibit I want to see.

I’ve also been to Seattle quite a few times this year. Once in May for my friend’s wedding and another time for my friend’s bridal shower. So grateful for this time to go back home and enjoy all the spoils of the PNW. One thing that I kept having a surge of gratitude for was the water, it just can’t be beat waking up to that kind of natural beauty. I was also able to celebrate my friends birthday and see @sango_ live for the first time during these trips. Spoiled and blessed, is how I felt after making it back twice this year. Now on to my next international trip!

So far I’ve taken two trips to #Boston for work. The first one was so quick I only had time to snap this flick with Limu Emu. The second trip was for @searchengineland search marketing conference. I always enjoy exploring and walking around Boston trying out great food and even better espresso martinis 🍸

A little throwback that’s been a long time coming…

If you’ve been wondering why NASCAR has suddenly made its way onto my feed, here’s your answer. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to experience my first NASCAR race while supporting one of the partnerships I’ve been working on at my day job. Getting to see everything come together in person—and watching Tyler Reddick take home the win at my very first race—was an experience I won’t forget.

Fast forward to today, and the Comparion-branded car is back on the track for another primary race. Safe to say, I’ll be watching a little differently now.

Sometimes the best memories take a while to make it out of the camera roll.
