October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and today happens the be national mammogram day.

Two years ago, my husband felt a lump in my breast that would forever change my life.

And today, almost two years later, I find myself in remission but still getting scans and most recently another breast biopsy.

So this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my message remains the same: Know your body. Check your body. Listen to it. Advocate for yourself. And please, don’t put off your screenings.

Two years ago, listening to my body changed my life.

Being Latina in cosmetic dermatology means bringing a little bit of cultura into everything I do. 🤎✨

From understanding the complexities of melanin-rich skin, hyperpigmentation and melasma, to helping women feel confident while still looking like themselves—representation matters.

I’m proud to be a Latina RN.
Proud of the women who came before me.
Proud of the work it took to earn my seat at the table.
And even prouder that I get to help create space for the next generation of Latinas in medicine and aesthetics.

Our skin tones are beautiful.
Our features are beautiful.
Our cultura is beautiful.

Melasma is more than just pigment, which is why I like to treat it from multiple angles.

Pico to break up pigment.
Peels to encourage cellular turnover and cell to cell communication.

That one time we attended a Cosmetic Dermatology Conference and were the only Registered Nurses in the room! Lol 🤍

Such an incredible weekend learning alongside some of the best Dermatologist in aesthetic medicine.

So honored to be part of a team that continues to prioritize education, growth, and most importantly, our patients.

A topic that comes up a lot with both my patients and my colleagues is this:

At what cost are we chasing perfection?

Somewhere along the way, we’ve started believing that every line needs to disappear, every nasolabial fold needs to be softened, and every tear trough needs to be completely restored. But is that really the goal?

I don’t think so.

Our faces are supposed to tell the story of a life well lived. They should still look like us. The goal of aesthetic medicine isn’t to erase every sign of aging. It’s to help you look refreshed, healthy, and like the best version of yourself, not like someone else.

I truly believe some of the best results come from knowing when enough is enough. In my opinion, restraint is what creates timeless, beautiful outcomes. Perfection is an impossible standard, but balance and authenticity never go out of style.

Life after cancer has looked a lot like long walks on the beach. 🤍

One of the things I’ve loved most is that I rarely walk alone. Sometimes it’s my niece. Other times it’s my parents, family, or friends. Every walk is a reminder that healing isn’t just physical. It’s found in connection, laughter, quiet moments, and the people who choose to walk beside you.

There’s something about grounding my feet in the sand and listening to the rhythm of the waves that brings peace to my soul. Nature has a way of reminding us to slow down, breathe, and simply be present.

Sometimes before-and-after photos can be hard to interpret, so let me show you what actually changed.

This result wasn’t created with one syringe or one treatment. It was a full-face, intentional approach.

Step 1: Sculptra was placed in the lateral face to stimulate collagen and restore structural support. By strengthening these outer “anchor points,” the mid and lower face has better support.

Step 2: Strategic hyaluronic acid filler was used along the jawline, pre-jowl sulcus, and chin to restore lost volume, improve chin irregularities, and soften the marionette lines while creating a more balanced lower face.

Step 3: Hyperdilute Radiesse was used in the neck to stimulate collagen, improve skin quality, and create a smoother transition from the jawline to the neck.

Notice how the jawline appears more defined, the pre-jowl area is softened, the chin looks smoother and more harmonious, and the neck has a firmer, more refined appearance. Nothing looks overfilled—just refreshed, supported, and naturally you.
