How do you show up for yourself?

For me, it’s having a daily practice. 🙏🏼

Whether that be through prayer, journaling, getting out into nature, yoga or some other form of movement;
I have found these to be some of the most helpful, loving and transformational practices & experiences for me.

All these things and more have not only carried me through some of the most challenging moments, but have also supported and blessed me through the best of times as well.

They have deepened my connection to God, to myself and have allowed me to more fully understand the true peace one can find within.

Having an anchor, something to ground you, connect you back to your heart, to your breath….
can help to remind you that we all have an inexhaustible wellspring of love found within.

It can start small.
Forgive yourself and the negative looping thoughts.
Remember you are worthy of love and good things.
Praying, and never forgetting that in every moment you can start over ❤️

I love you

Since March 2025, I have had the wonderful opportunity to join Toastmasters, an international speaking club where I have been able to focus on and practice my motivational speaking skills.

It has been an amazing experience working alongside absolutely incredible people. It has been a long dream of mine to take the events of my life- both the exciting and the challenging- and share what I have learned.
My hope is to encourage, serve and support others who may be working through similar circumstances.

Since joining, I have had the exciting opportunity to compete in several contests, online and in person. The first, online contest, I was so grateful to place 1st in the Area and Division rounds, and 2nd place in the final round for District. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to share my speech “Happiness is a choice” which focused on my initial diagnosis with Systemic Lupus. In the speech, I spoke about the choice between letting the diagnosis weigh me down or choosing to hold onto love. Maintaining that perspective has kept me motivated and helped me keep my glass half full, even on the most difficult days.

At the start of March 2026, I began the International Speech contest with a piece called “A girl’s best friend”. This speech was about my sweet stuffed animal Mr. Puppy, who was a huge support system throughout my healing journey- from my diagnosis with Lupus and Lupus Nephritis to enduring kidney failure, edema, 5 1/2 years of peritoneal dialysis, and ultimately receiving a kidney transplant.

With much gratitude, I made it through Area, and Division once again at 1st place, and I had the great honor of competing at District level where I took 2nd place. I participated with one extremely talented speakers and want to congratulate the winner, @nataleeatthegrotto, who will continue on for the semifinals. A big congrats to all the contestants, all amazing with messages that were truly inspiring.

These experiences have given me even more certainty that speaking is what I want to do with my life. I feel a deep sense of purpose in sharing a message to encourage others. (Continued in comments) #Toastmasters #lupus #EmpireToastmastersClub #chooselove by @jewlsv25

Today on this beautiful birthday I am feeling so very grateful for all of the incredible people, epic experiences, as well as for my amazing health.

Besides being my 43rd year in life, it also aligns with my 2nd anniversary of receiving my beautiful kidney, Angel. ❤️

This past year has been one of so much growth and expansion I can only feel excitement for what this year holds. I’ll be getting married to my deepest love, continue to work on my public speaking, and keep following my purpose to encourage, serve and love all those who come into my life.

I welcome in more fun, exciting experiences and I will continue to use my mantra that “all things are for my highest and best”. As I’ve learned from the past 43 years, good and challenging moments, that it’s all been to make me the person I am today :D

Thank you to all the wonderful people who support, love and encourage me on this beautiful journey.

I love you all 💕 by @jewlsv25

November 1st was Nick’s and my 5th year anniversary and he surprised me with an absolutely unforgettable day. 🩷

Incorporating memories from our very 1st date, which was a 10 day, 7 state trip, Nick’s definitely a romantic at heart and does things big.

We started this past weekend with an overnight in Healdsburg where we stayed in a room very similar to a place we stayed in Missoula, Montana on one of those special nights 5 years ago.

The next day he surprised me with a 6 hour scenic wine tasting train ride in Napa, also surprising me with some of our amazing friends @trirealfood and @sean_rockwell . Great company, delicious food, gorgeous views and wonderful wine….. made for a fabulous day.

Later that evening, on a rooftop in downtown Napa, my tall handsome man, once a short 6th grade boy with an oversized backpack, who would run to get a side hug from an 8th grade girl every day after 4th period class, officially asked me to be his wife! Of course I said yes!

I’m so excited to be his future soon to be wife.
He is the most wonderful, loving, kindhearted, supportive person, and I can’t tell you how lucky I feel everyday to have him as my guy. 🥰

I love him with all my heart and I’m so excited for our continued lives together. A dream come true for both of us. 🥰🩷🪩❤️🌹🫶🥰

Just got back from an amazing, spontaneous trip with the love of my life @usafirepilot to Maui. ❤️
My folks love to vacation there and always say to come visit when they go, but that’s been a bit of a challenge these past several years, especially when I was on dialysis and when I had that bum hip.

BUT not anymore, this was the year now that I’m all healthy and healed and boy oh boy was it awesome. ❤️So stoked to be able to just pack a bag and hit the road.
This was my first real adventure traveling and to not have any limitations.
We got to go hiking, swimming, eat good food, relax and just play. Grateful for my folks letting us come crash with them and for being such great hosts.

I really am so grateful for this new season of health and strength…. It’s a feeling of freedom I haven’t experienced in a long time and brings such joy to my heart and soul. SO grateful for all the ways God has carried me, loved me and continues to show me how amazing this life is.

Love you all ❤️ by @jewlsv25

Feeling so grateful ❤️

Starting off 2025 with my new amazing kidney and now, this incredible new hip…. It all feels like such a gift. 🙏🏼

Nick and I had our first official hike out in the woods the other day and what a beautiful moment it was. ❤️

Walking, back to feeling like my old self; but a new and renewed self, is this indescribable feeling. I really can only continue to say how thankful I am. It’s been a long time coming.

Our bodies are truly remarkable and I am so grateful for all mine has gone through over the years. It has been one tough cookie and has done so much to keep up and keep going. 🤸🏼‍♀️🙏🏼

I have developed such a deep level of gratitude for the perseverance and strength I have found within and thankful for the journey of self discovery that God has led me on. It’s a real gift to learn to “Know Thyself”.
The good, the bad and the ugly…… all so beautiful.

I believe so deeply that no matter the situation, it’s all here for us to learn, to grow and to expand.
We can always choose to see what the experience is trying to show us and what we can gain by keeping our hearts open and by choosing love over and over.

I believe we have a wellspring of strength within and that sometimes these challenging moments can be just what we need to tap into it.

I believe prayer is a powerful tool and always available to us.

I believe God loves you/us and sends us help all the time.

I believe that if you are going through a challenging time you CAN get through it - keep choosing love and keeping finding things to be grateful for.
You are worthy of a miracle. Never forget that. 🙏🏼❤️

Thank you again to everyone for all your support, love and prayers.

Love you all so much ❤️❤️❤️ by @jewlsv25

$Tomorrow morning, 12/3/24, I’m having my second surgery of 2024. For the last year and a half I’ve needed to get a hip replacement, but had put it on hold for my much bigger and much needed kidney transplant that I received in May earlier this year. To be able to get this new hip is a really big deal. The last year and a half has been tough dealing with a hip that has been bone on bone, and partially shattered. This was caused by years of medications from having Lupus, and from all the pharmaceuticals that I’ve needed to take along the way. When the pain worsened, I began walking with a cane to help. There were moments where I did go through waves of grief and deep sadness, and I just wasn’t able to keep up. I couldn’t go hiking as often, or for nearly a fraction of the length I used to hike on trails. I missed out on some big events and couldn’t go dancing like I used to. And kundalini had to shift dramatically, which limited a lot of kriyas (exercises) that involved my hip. I had to learn to adjust to the moment I was experiencing. BUT it didn’t stop me… I simply have had to make adjustments and to remind myself that “This too shall pass”, knowing that this was, yet another beautiful opportunity to choose loving thoughts over fearful thoughts. To remember that in every moment a big part of your experience is how you choose to look or react to a situation, or where you let your thoughts go. I hiked less, but felt grateful for what I was still able to do. I danced, but danced a bit more gently, and with a bit more arms and shoulders. And as for my kundalini practice, I simply had to find a way to adjust and to be grateful for all that I COULD still do and that I was able to continue teaching every week. I share all this because I’ve love to ask for prayers as I go into my surgery tomorrow, and also simply to offer my personal experiences while dealing with challenging moments. That the path of choosing love and gratitude have made these experiences much less intense or as painful as I believe they could have been otherwise. It’s a daily practice, some days are easier than others. Keep looking for all you can be grateful for. ❤️I love you❤️ by @jewlsv25$
