Happy Birthday to my favorite person! ❤️

Joey, I hope you know how much I love and appreciate you. I see how hard you work for me and our boys, Archie & Fred 🐶🐶, and I’m so thankful for the life we’ve built together.

I love traveling and exploring with you, but I love our everyday life just as much watching TV, laughing together, and our new favorite… late lunches/early dinners because apparently we’re 80 now. 😂

Today you would have been 13.

Some birthdays hit differently, and this one feels like a big one.

Since you’ve been gone, I still see you everywhere.

I see you in the neighborhood boys racing their bikes down the street, laughing without a care in the world.

I find random Nerf bullets on my walks and can’t help but smile, because somehow they always remind me of you.

I see your name on buildings, signs, and the side of passing vehicles, and I know they are God winks!

I hear a little boy with a raspy voice in a store, and I still catch myself looking around, wishing it is you.

I see kids with scraped knees, messy hair, endless energy, and that fearless little-boy confidence, and I wonder what adventures you’d be having at 13!!

Not a day goes by that you aren’t missed. There is still a space in our family that only you could fill.

But grief isn’t our whole story! 🫶🏼

Because of Jesus, I know death doesn’t get the final word. What feels like forever here is only a moment in eternity. One day I’ll hear that raspy voice again. One day I’ll get to hug you again. And this time, there will never be another goodbye.

Until then, we’ll keep looking for little reminders of you, smiling through the tears, telling your story, and carrying your kindness forward.
