Today, I welcome back @jhilla. Part 1 hosted Jeff when he was working at Hodinkee as an instrumental part of their Limited Editions department.

Recently, Jeff became the Creative Director of previous podcast guest, Jake Mueser’s company, @j.mueser. We jump right in to his new role, how he got there, and what he was looking forward to most.

We then chat a bit about furniture - something both Jeff and I have passions for and then we wrap things up with his recent adventure to Scotland with his best friend and another previous guest, Jeremy Kirkland.

I never have enough time with Jeff. He’s incredibly intentional and thoughtful with everything he does, which is a way I aspire to be. You don’t necessarily have to listen to Part 1 with Jeff in order to enjoy this discussion, however, I encourage you to listen to it when you’re able.

I’ve known @jake.mueser for almost 15 years, so when we were discussing me coming onboard to @j.mueser, it felt right. After nearly 10 years out of the tailoring world, I’m excited to step back in as a Creative Director. At the end of the day, I’m a product guy, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to bring some of my ideas to life. by @jhilla

After 6.5 years, this is my last week at @hodinkee

I’m immensely proud of what we accomplished in that time. We brought nearly 80 Limited Edition products to market, worked with brands I never thought possible, and told some pretty cool stories. I joined Hodinkee because I wanted to be a part of a company that altered an industry. It did and it still does. That doesn’t happen without extremely talented people.

Telling the story of my dad’s watch and receiving the outpouring of responses is something I will always cherish. Waking up at 4:30am to drive in a Porsche 550 at the top of the Großglockner in Austria was insane. Staying in the Buchli house in Münsingen was a life moment. Working with small artisans to tell their stories made me realize why I do all of this.

There were a lot of ups and downs at Hodinkee, but I was always given the space to carve a path, and for that I’m truly grateful. I plan to carry that same passion into my new role, which will be in an industry I can never stray too far from. More on that soon, but for now thanks and✌️✌️✌️. by @jhilla

It’s highly likely you either know who Jeff Hilliard is, or you’re familiar with his work. And if you’re still coming up short, your favorite people in the style community have worked alongside him.

@jhilla is one of the mainstays and brains behind many of the Limited Editions watches from HODINKEE, while he also moonlights as somewhat of a NYC fashion staple as one of the 3 J’s in @blamopodcast #JJJShow. Together, he and I chat about style, his journey with clothes, what will never leave, as well as his approach to watch collecting.

Lastly, even though he brings it up, Jeff happened to pen my favorite article in @hodinkee history called Finding My Father in His Watch. You’ve probably read it. We didn’t go into it, and that’s mainly because we ultimately decided to make this a two-part conversation, so without further ado…you can enjoy Part 1 with Jeff on Apple Podcasts as well as Spotify.
