January 25th, 2024, I got a call I never would have thought I would receive. This past year has been the toughest, most heartbreaking year that my family and I have ever had to endure. It has been a whole year of missing, reminiscing, grieving, loving, losing, and learning - learning how to navigate this world without my dad, how to forgive, how to grieve, and how to fully give my trust in the Lord. As many know, my dad struggled with mental health for about 3 years. From depression to the high of mania - it was the craziest, most confusing few years. Everyday, we were so unsure of how dad was going to be. Throughout those 3 years, there were many hard times and battles, but along with those hopeless moments, there was also so much joy, life, and unforgettable memories. I never would have thought that my dad would have chose to leave us the way that he did- he was just so broken. But no matter how tough it is, I feel an overwhelming forgiveness, eternal love for him, and peace that he is no longer hurting. He was, is, & will always be my dad - the strongest man, supporter, provider, and best friend.

Throughout this journey and for forever, I give my most highest thanks to the Lord. Instead of blaming or questioning why He couldn’t have healed my dad, I have surrendered it all to Him, having faith that He will use it for good. Without the Lord, I would be miserably failing to endure the battles that have come. I have an optimistic outlook that everyday is just one day closer to getting to love on and hug my dad again. The Lord has brought me an unexplainable peace, holding my hand to guide me throughout this healing process. It is said that grief is an overwhelming amount of love with nowhere for it to go, and I couldn’t explain it better myself. I have found a new perspective on life that has made me feel much more grateful, encouraged, and motivated to make my dad proud. With all that said, I will continue to miss and grieve my dad everyday, and I have loved, do love, and will always love my dad forever. Hug your dad extra tight every time you get the honor to see them ❤️ by @jillianchristner
