the day i never thought would come happened yesterday when my best friend, my sister, my josie bear, passed away.

normally i wouldn’t make a post for a loss but i want everyone to know how josie was truly an angel dog and the best companion a girl could ever ask for.

josie came into my life when i was 8 years old. we grew up together. she was there for every awkward phase, family trip to the cottage, every boyfriend— good and bad—, every highlight and low point at home, every time i needed a hug or a study buddy, everything. through all the chaos and transitions in life i could always count on her to be my comfort and my peace.

i always thought josie would live forever because she never truly felt like a dog to me. she had so many humanly quirks that i was convinced she was a little kid trapped in a little round, white, fluffy body. she loved going on hikes, motorcycle rides with her dad, eating many timbits, chasing her orange ball for hours on end, sticking her head out the car window even when it was raining or -30°, following too
closely around everyone’s feet while people moved about the house, boat rides at six mile lake, and living life to the fullest. she made us laugh getting her head stuck in a peanut butter jar, barking to be the centre of attention— always—, getting the zoomies in the park, and running into the creek when we explicitly told her not to. she was gentle, attentive, rebellious, loving, funny, a true diva. even as she got older she kept her youthful, playful spirit and always made people question whether or not she was still a puppy.

to all who met josie knew to love her and i am so grateful she was able to touch so many hearts and truly be a part of the family. i don’t know how to accept the fact she won’t be waiting at the door for me when i go home. i would give anything for one more minute and to thank her for everything she did for me, for her family. but i hope she’s resting and knows how loved and spoiled she was for 14 years.
