Dolly Parton understood exactly why I spend so much of my time in cemeteries.

There’s something calming and endlessly fascinating about wandering through them and contemplating the lives represented, as well as your own.

Knowing Dolly was able to visit her own final resting place before she died is something all taphophiles can appreciate.

Billy the Puppet is a friend of Dorothy, confirmed. 🥰

I don’t know how I completely missed what shoes Jigsaw had him in this whole time watching the Saw movies.

You can see him on display for yourself at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures new Horror Show exhibit.

Visiting the grave of Paul Reubens, one of my childhood icons.
The comedian best known for playing Pee-wee Herman died at 70 on July 30, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He’s buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, right next to Burt Reynolds.
After first creating his Pee-wee persona with The Groundlings, Reubens starred on his own TV show, movies like Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-wee, and even hosted SNL in character as Pee-wee. He also appeared in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, Batman Returns, Mystery Men, and Blow, as well as TV shows including 30 Rock and The Blacklist.

I’m obsessed with the Blood Room at the Academy Museum’s new Horror Show exhibition 🩸🩸🩸

After going through six chambers celebrating distinct genres of horror, including props from classic and modern horror films, visitors exit through a gory hallway with walls dripping with blood splatter and pools of thick blood on the ground. I can’t wait to go back!

I came across this grave while visiting Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto and had no idea why people were leaving needles and little vials on top of it. (I’ve since been told the pens do NOT have needles.)

I learned it belongs to Sir Frederick Banting, one of the co-discoverers of insulin and a 1923 Nobel Prize winner, who sold patent rights for only $1, with the belief that people who needed the life-saving medicine deserved access to it.

One moving note left on his headstone reads, “I owe you my life.”

The legendary actress, known for All About Eve and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, died at 81 on Oct. 6, 1989, after battling breast cancer.

She shares a crypt with her mother and sister at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills. It is inscribed with the epitaph, “She did it the hard way.”

Is there a meaning behind putting pasta on the grave of Charlie’s Angels star Farrah Fawcett and Love Story actor Ryan O’Neal, or did someone just leave their lunch?

The cemetery is very well maintained, so this genuinely surprised me. I found conflicting explanations online, so if anyone actually knows, I’d love to hear it.
