i have honestly never experienced anything like this song. i have never had something pour out of me so earnestly and so urgently. the urge to write these lyrics down and release them into the world was so strong i couldn’t eat. this whole song was written and recorded in a total of about 4 hours — and i’m shaking as i write this, because i’m so desperate for this story to be told. lyrics in the comments. by @jilliding

this might come as a surprise but i have ALWAYS struggled with songwriting. i can write poetry no problem, but writing a song felt like a dragon i couldn’t slay. so i just…avoided it. refused to do it. but, with the endless encouragement of the people who believe in me, i started really trying. really working and practicing and searching for my voice.

and here she is. sorry if she’s a little hoarse, a little rough around the edges. she’s still growing. but i’m proud she’s finally ready to be shown to the world.
