Becoming Her #art #blackart #atlantaartist #femaleartist I painted these two pieces as a pair: Becoming and Her.

They’re the same pose and the same subject, but they represent two very different places in the journey of becoming comfortable with who you are.

Becoming, the black and white piece, is that version of yourself that knows there’s more inside of you. You can see the person you want to be. You know what she looks like, how she moves through the world, how she expresses herself… but for some reason, you don't feel like you're fully living as her yet.

You may feel like you're holding parts of yourself back. Like you're showing the world a quieter or watered-down version of who you really are.

And then there's Her.

The colorful version.

She is the same person, but she's finally allowing herself to be seen. She's expressive, vibrant, confident, and taking up space. She's the version of herself that she's always known was there.

I think a lot of us spend time somewhere between these two versions of ourselves.

We know who we are becoming, but we're still trying to figure out how to fully become her.

These paintings are about identity, self-esteem, and giving yourself permission to grow into the version of yourself you've always seen somewhere inside. 💕 by @jilliecreates

Trying something new. Working on this painting titled ALL WRAPPED UP. I'm not always the best at expressing my emotions but they do get the best of me at times. I can get so wrapped up in my own thoughts and feelings and end up getting in my own way #blackart taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @jilliecreates
