10/01/1977 Happy birthday to me! It’s a bitter sweet day for me but I am so proud of me! And if you know then you know next to being mommy, to the best daughter in the world, my favorite title is auntie jilllllll and I love all my babies so much. Another proud mommy moment!

Out of an extensive pool of applicants, following a rigorous application and interview process, TARYNN was selected as one of only 28 students accepted into The Gate City Bar Association’s Justice Benham Law Camp in partnership with Georgia State University College of Law! She is proudly a member of the Class of 2026.

The camp was founded by Justice Robert Benham (pictured with Tarynn), who was the second Black graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and the FIRST Black justice to serve on the Supreme Court of Georgia, later becoming the court’s first Black Chief Justice.

This summer program is designed to expose minority high school students throughout the Atlanta area to the legal profession. During the initial weeks of classroom instruction, students are introduced to the fundamentals of critical thinking and have the opportunity to learn from attorneys and judges representing various areas of law. Students also tour legal institutions including state and superior courts, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the Georgia Court of Appeals. During the internship phase, the final week of the program, students gain hands-on experience working in legal environments across metro Atlanta with law firms, judicial entities, and corporations.

Sending a HUGE THANK YOU to Justice Benham, King & Spalding, Harold Franklin Jr., the Gate City Bar Association, and the entire team pouring into these young people and helping shape the next generation of attorneys and legal professionals!

From a very young age, Tarynn has known she wanted to become an attorney, so onward and upward toward becoming Attorney Tarynn!

Rest well to brudder, uncle, Mr fatthead, giver to all he encountered, and friend!We’re going to miss the laughs. You were of service to sooo many and a helper we’re still trying to figure out how you stretched your body. I am going to miss babying you like no one ever can. Those forehead kisses and you saying ugh get away from me girl . We’re going to miss the random thoughtful gestures how you’re here EVERY step of the way for Tarynn. It was our absolute pleasure to send you home in style. We hope you enjoyed the celebration of your life. Kiss Ma for us and tell her no fair she couldn’t wait for you. And tell her we know she was there turning off Opa mic. He pivoted wonderfully but we saw her loud and clear. It must be nice to meet grandma Ruth ❤️ and pls give Aunt Mary and big hug from us and tell her every time i see Judge Judy and Family Feud i think of her. Tell Grams I love her and getting a chia pet this year for sure….We know you’re “good.” I have your girls for life and will love and pray for them. I love you so very much

This is so very hard to write.

One month today. My Ma, my Snookums, Tarynn’s grandma, gained her wings on 06.06.25. Words can’t express the heartache. The thoughts. The memories. The loneliness. The emptiness. This is so hard. I’m trying my best to power though. I feel lost. I miss my other bestie and our late night calls for hours until we fell asleep. I miss your text. I miss your messages asking me to see some YouTube. I really miss your laugh. I miss your comforting voice that would relax me when i needed it and in another breath get me so heated. Oh how I miss you and your critique. I miss the way you skin feels soft like love. I miss your genius and unearthly intuition. It feels like I’m lost in space. Oh Ma you said you would be here forever. This is such an unnatural feeling. This was the person who spent every day of my life supporting and loving me through it all. I would sit in class and write love notes to when I was younger. When I was upset, she would lay me on her chest and tell me to cry to let it out and almost instantly felt comfort. She taught me not to be closed off to experiences and people. I remember her taking me to see Nelson Mandela and explaining the apartheid to me. We would talk for hours and all time of night 2am calls were normal. I can’t sleep wi thought listening to your voice. She would say “Jill y’all be careful” when going out. If you know Frieda Ma then you know she hardly trusted anyone outside of family and rightfully so. I called many of nights when Tarynn was sick asking for remedies “Jill mix some alcohol in ice and water and put the towel on her head, back of her neck, creases in her leg, and chest” I call with any Bible questions cuz you know the Bible like the back of her hand. Ma you prayed over us. I don’t know how people get thru this. Thank God I have Tarynn and love. by @jillispresent
