Where we put the easy into sleazy!

I love Italy almost as much as I love snacks.

Balsamic Tomato Bread Dip
Tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, herbs and a very good balsami, all smashed together and best attacked with torn-up or toasted bread.

It’s simple, messy, ridiculously good and exactly what this series is about: taking a handful of good ingredients, doing very little to them, and somehow ending up with something that feels like it belongs at a wine bar.

No fancy plating. No tiny portions. Just put it in the middle of the table, and get into it.

Maximum impact. Minimum effort. Mildly inappropriate confidence by @jimglohe

Where we put the easy into sleasy.

Spicy Marg Oysters
I like my snacks shared, easy and preferably with a drink in hand.

So for Episode 2, we’re turning a spicy marg into something you can smash straight from the shell.

Finely dice shallot, jalapeño and red chilli, seeds out. Add a good squeeze of fresh lime, a splash of tequila and the special ingredient: Cointreau. Hit it with Tajín and let it sit for everything to waken up!

Spoon it over fresh oysters and smash ’em down.

Cold. Spicy. Boozy. Easy. Sleazy

I thought I was making mac and cheese.

Turns out I was making Japanese Curry Mac & Cheese. The secret ingredient? Golden Curry cubes. They add a rich, savoury depth that transforms a classic comfort food into something completely different.

This recipe comes from Stephanie Feher’s Lucky Dragon Supper Club cookbook and might be one of the easiest comfort food upgrades I’ve tried.

I love snacks. Always have. Probably always will.

This series is about taking the stuff you’d normally throw on a plate and making it look like it belongs at a wine bar. Think easy recipes, quick snacks, share plates and entertaining ideas that punch well above their weight. Maximum impact. Minimum effort. Mildly inappropriate confidence.

Because the best snacks aren’t precious. They’re made to be passed around, stolen off someone else’s plate and disappear before you’ve had your fair share.

Action Bronson really might’ve perfected breakfast with this one!

Baked flatbread. Ricotta. Pickled jalapeño honey. That perfect mix of chaos and comfort.

Seeing clips from Action Bronson’s Katz’s Deli performance last week sent me straight into a Bronson food spiral. The man genuinely makes food, music and culture feel like part of the exact same universe.

This might be one of the easiest breakfasts going around and honestly tastes like something from a Brooklyn brunch spot. Definitely paying $28 for it too

Toast the flatbread until it’s just crisp.
Heavy ricotta.
Pickled jalapeño honey.
Good pinch of salt.
Cracked black pepper.
Big drizzle of olive oil.

Done.
