I’ve been absent from posting my pizza adventures because of some health issues. I had a stress induced heart attack in January that sent me to the hospital. While there I fought off two bouts of pneumonia and sepsis. I’m very lucky to be alive. I was in the hospital for just under four months.

In addition I’ve been trying to get social security disability since September of 2004. This has forced me not to work since then. I’m going to court in January since I’ve been denied so far.

I was born with a spinal disease that impacts my cartilage and as a result have had my hips replaced. I’m not able to stand for more than 5 minutes and am in a wheelchair. I have difficulty speaking now because I was put into a coma and had to have a trachea inserted in my throat. I also can’t sit for long and have tremors since being released from the hospital.

I hope to be back to posting soon when we are not living check to check. Even though my wife has a high wage job, she’s had to do Instacart to supplement our income.

While I was in rehab, my wife @tonistastytravel had to put our baby to sleep. I wish I could have been with her during that time.

We were blessed to have had her in our lives for the time we did. Her health drastically declined overnight and X-rays found a tumor in her stomach I’m was bleeding.

My wife and I decided that we should end her pain and suffering. We miss her every day.

She was a pharmaceutical rescue. I’m so glad we adopted from @happypawsrescuenj and plan to adopt there again when the time is right. Please #adoptdontshop, you won’t regret it.

Hi everyone. I wanted to share a fuller update on Jim and what has been happening. Jim has been in the ICU since January 29th.

This all started back in December when we went to the ER on Christmas Eve because Jim was falling and slurring his words. At the time, we were told he was dehydrated and had a virus. We truly believed it was something simple and temporary.

Not long after that, Jim began hallucinating and became increasingly paranoid. He was seeing and believing things that weren’t there, and it was terrifying to watch. That’s when we knew something much more serious was going on.

As his condition declined, doctors had to place a breathing tube to support him. Nine days later, when they were unable to insert another breathing tube, he underwent surgery to remove the feeding tube and place a trach to secure his airway. He is now slowly emerging from the comatose state. Currently, he is breathing about 40% on his own, with the ventilator providing the remaining support. His blood pressure is stable, though it continues to remain on the lower side.

For now, they are giving him sugar through an IV and feeding him through a tube in his nose while they wait and hope he becomes strong enough to receive proper nourishment. The doctors continue to run extensive tests as they try to determine what caused all of this.

Every tiny improvement feels huge to us. We are praying for continued progress, for answers, and for the strength to get through each day.

This has been the hardest season of our lives. I replay everything in my mind, wondering if things would be different had they kept him in the hospital back in December. But right now, we are focusing on today — on Jim, on hope, and on taking this one step at a time.

Some places just get it — and Steel Penny Cafe in Hatboro, PA is one of them

We were absolutely blown away. From the first sip of their specialty coffee to the last bite of their scratch-made food, everything was done with so much care and flavor. And let’s talk about that Detroit-style pizza — crispy, cheesy edges, perfectly fluffy inside, and 100% worth the hype.

It’s easy to see why this spot is so popular. Warm vibes, incredible food, and the kind of place you immediately want to come back to. Hatboro is lucky to have this gem — and we’ll definitely be back.

@thirdproof Third Proof Pizza in Pine Brook, NJ is serving up a legit New Haven–style pie, and let me tell you… they sell out FAST for a reason. They’re only open Wednesday–Sunday, and even then, blink and it’s gone.

We actually showed up when they were already sold out — and instead of turning us away, they invited us in and made a pizza just for us. That kind of hospitality? Next level. The pie was everything: crispy, charred, perfectly balanced, and absolutely worth the hype.

So grateful, so happy, and already planning our next visit. Run, don’t walk… and maybe get there early 😉🍕

Today I stumbled upon a “local hidden gem” that nobody ever talks about…

It’s called… Taco Bell. @tacobell

I know — shocking. A rare, elusive establishment only found in every town in America. But something about the Matawan/Aberdeen location hit different. I walked in like I had discovered a secret restaurant only spoken about in whispers, expecting velvet ropes and a tasting menu… and instead got a cheesy roll up, burrito, beefy nachos and nacho fries. Honestly? No complaints.
